The "Mark My Words" Thread

We still haven’t even seen what he can really do. Was a pretty underwhelming season from him based on the hype, but I guess we had a certain game plan which didn’t utilise his strengths. I’d probably see how he starts the season before rushing anything.

And he had pretty much no pre-season, which I think gets overlooked.

He exceeded my hopes defensively really, I thought he was very good there and is only going to improve. I believe the attack will come.

Would be great if we could re-sign him while that’s still the case, too.
We won't

We already know what he's capable of. Despite not having a preseason he turned out some sensational offloading (early on before he was instructed not to). Hes a sensational defender with an excellent read on the game. Clearly large, fast and very athletic. Hes an incredible talent and coming into his prime at 23 yo

We should be trying to re-sign him now. Not in 6 months after he demonstrates to other clubs that he is worth more than we'd be willing to pay him.

What would we spend on him though it’s hard to gauge his worth, last year Lucas was miles better but I keep hearing about this potential KPP has so it clearly can’t be a lowball offer but it also can’t be a high offer especially since we got many second rowers coming through. Maybe between $500-600k as he really didn’t show a 700k sorta game last year. But he was also not bad so it can’t be less than $500k.

Sub 600k is great value for the club.

I think we need him. Irrespective of the talent coming through, Frizz can shift to the middle. It's a very cheap solution to replace a rep quality forward.

Hopefully AOB will trust KPP to offload more as part of a game plan that is more is expansive in 2025. He got his hands free so many times last season but was clearly being told to keep it tight. Fingers crossed we will have the overall confidence to let him unload.

It was early this year that I started calling KPP spider. Cos the dude sticks to attackers like spider man. I don't think he was a huge weapon in attack, though he can offload.

I'm definitely happy with his defence and hopefully we work out how to utilise him in attack.

The vast majority of the time KPP got an arm free there was no one anywhere near in position to take an offload, don’t know that it can really be pinned on a directive from the coaches. The team wasn’t/isn’t set up to be a good support play team. As the main (probably only) playmaker Ponga is generally a couple of passes wide of the ruck rather than following the ball, and the other halves/spine players just aren’t really threats. Pryce pushing up on DSaf's hip to score on debut is the only example that comes to mind from last season.

More predictions for the 2025 season that won't happen 😄

Titans win the spoon

Roosters biggest sliders

Broncos biggest risers

Melbourne v Penrith gf again

Sharks to win the minor premiership but knocked out in the prelims

Kalyn Ponga wins his 2nd Dally M

Knights to finish 8th but once again knocked out in the first week of finals for the 2nd straight year

Adam Reynolds forced into retirement mid season

Leo Thompson signs with the Raiders

Trent Robinson leaves as the Roosters coach at the end of the season after missing finals footy.

Already got one for 2025 in December of 2024 😄
Cameron McInnes leaves Cronulla signs for a another club ❌
Yeah nearly every prediction aged like milk other than the Broncos rising and would of got the Titans one right had they not won on Saturday.

Melbourne Penrith probably won't be the GF this time either.
