Holbrook will come to his senses by round 15 and after a run of losses he will push Sharpe to the wing/centre and Smith will show why he deserved to be the halfback

All he really said is that Sharpe can play elsewhere if needed which is just common sense, don’t think he was necessarily foreshadowing anything.

I do take his decision as more of an indictment on how highly he rates Smith than as a ringing endorsement of how strongly he believes in Sharpe there. In an ideal world I’m sure he’d love to be going into the season with two bonafide NRL-quality halves and the headache of trying to fit Sharpe in around that, but he can only work with what he's got.

We honestly, at this stage, can not 100% rule out that he’s going to bring Sandon off the bench to play in the halves with Fletcher shifting to like a roving playmaker who defends in the middle when he comes on.

Or he could just be thinking, well, let’s just go along with the previous plan, if it works awesome. If it doesn’t, whatever, Sandon in the halves. There’s more internal pressure on him if he picks Sandon in the halves from the jump and they struggle. He also didn’t get to see Fletch, Dyl & KP combine in the trials so he could literally be “trialling” it in live NRL games.

He could just think Sandon needs a kick up the bum. Or he could think there’s long term benefits to playing Brown and Fletch in the halves whether or not he sticks with it.

We have no idea, he’s kept cards very close to his chest.

Or, or...he may think the best halves combo is the one he chose.
 
Honestly just wanted to get the “he may bring Sandon on to play half” call on the record just in case he does do that. I’ll look like a genius if that’s right. But I’ve also left a lot of plausible deniability if he doesn’t. I’ve been studying at the Gus Gould School Of Rhetoric.

Yep, said the other day we may not know his full plan until full time tomorrow.
 
Also didn’t specifically say he *doesn’t* think that spine is his best option lol.

I mean I do get the appeal on paper of the four dynamic ball runners.

Many such cases of coaches thinking “but what if none of my spine players were the boring guy?”.
 
Where it will get interesting is if Sandon does come onto the field and Crossland, Sharpe, KP and Brown are still on the park. Cos that is the ace. Is Sandon moving to dummy half, half or a ball playing lock role?
