The "Mark My Words" Thread

So just checked. Ponga’s second lisfranc injury was a sprain not a tear and did not require surgery. As he was back at training.
Just looking at Ponga’s injury history, two lisfranc, and head knocks. Can’t remember him having any hammy issues. Don’t know. Well if he is unlucky again Sharpe slots straight in and we don’t lose much. Probably a slightly different gameplan with Sharpe playing FB.

There's always next year 😂

1.4M on the sidelines is a huge loss though.
Yeah of course! Put it this way, if Brisbane don’t have Reece Walsh they lose to Canberra. When they had there form slump Reece was not playing most of those games.

And obviously what Walsh did during the finals was nothing short of amazing, but I still believe Ponga has that also. If he catches fire he is still hands down one of the most lethal players in the game.

But just saying if he does happen to get injured which history has shown, then we have another gun this time to take his place. And I think we have enough depth on our side backs to replace Sharpe in either Wing or centre.

Yeah, the general consensus is the change of coach should have us playing more consistently to the attacking side we should be. Best, Ponga, Sharpe, Dom, Lucus and now add DB should be full of points. But we do need go forward.

Alright I'm going to throw some at the wall for off-season's sake.

- Kalyn will be the competitions leading points scorer at Round 10, but injury will again disrupt his season, leading to Fletcher Sharpe emerging as our best fullback.

- Lachlan Crouch and Trey Mooney will battle it out for the 2nd starting prop spot, but Jacob Saifiti will suffer a long term injury, leaving Crouch and Mooney to take the starting spots for the remainder of the season.

- Bradman Best to earn an Origin recall, Dylan Lucas will be 18th or 19th man, but won't play. Fletcher Sharpe will make the NSW Development squad.

- James Schiller will play 13+ games, a mixture of injury, form & rep selection will see him deputise across the backline for Gags, Marz & Bradman

Mark my words, by seasons end it will be very clear that the Dylan Brown deal is only made worse by the fact the Fletcher Sharpe is much better at playing 6 outside of Sandon Smith, at a fraction of the price.

2026 Predictions:

- Ponga deflects from Kangaroos for Kiwis after being in the 19 man squad for 2/3 origins and not getting game time.
- Newy scrape into the 8.
- Best, Lucas & Ponga make the 19 man squads for origin.
- Ponga, Brown & Crossy are 1, 6 & 9 for NZ in the World Cup.
- Saifiti finishes the year as a bench impact forward but still plays big minutes, more of an enforcer role.
