Forward re-shuffle?

Tolar needs to learn to hit between players rather than hit players straight on. I dont think he has the speed to gain momentum and barge through a player like fui fui, so i think he has to go in between which is what petero is so good at. Petero makes walking through the line so easy because he knows where to hit, you awtch him and he rarely is taken backwards, even in origin. So that being said Tolar needs to get the ball close to the line rather than taking it deep and being lined up by opp defense.

I don't know if we can risk ciraldo next week if manly are firing despite injuries. While we have injuries to key positions, theyre depletion is more focused on the forward pack which i think we really have to take advantage of. We need size to walk over them.

I don't think we'll be walking over the likes of Kite, Rose, Watmough and Ballin with our pack. I think our focus should be on targeting their backline. What Manly done well today was shut down Pearce which limited the Rooster's options. If they continue the same tactics next week and target Mullo then we'll need big games from Henry and hopefully Kurt to take the kicking pressure off him. This will be a great test for us and we'll be able to get a mark of where we're at this year.

We should be doing everything we can to expose Manly out wide with Aku and Jimmy, whenever the Roosters went wide they cut them up big time. I think defence will win this one, can't see it being a high scoring contest to be honest. Manly won their game with defence today, they bashed the Roosters into submission and jammed them up into their 20m zone.

In recent years we have been strong attackingly by spreading the ball to the wing, I haven't seen this too much this season so far but this is where we can really exploit Manly's defence.

I'm not a big fan of dropping players for 1 bad game but we could be found out here after the 30+ degree day in penrith then the humidity of north Queensland, a few of the big boys might struggle if manly bash like they did against the roosters, just thinking 1 or 2 fresher forwards might be what we need.

who would u take out and who would u put in?

When the Big Red first came into the top grade he did punch between players and he had a great off-load.
As he's aged and matured, plus having been there under different coaches his game has c
hanged.
He needs to keep the skills he has picked up from them, but he also needs to get his old skills to combine with what he now knows.

As for being slow, well he maybe a bit slow, but is he any slower than some of the other forwards in the NRL. I know he makes more ground than a lot of others.
I do not see the big man as slow, I see him as dependable, tough and a trier, As a bench player what more do you want?

I never saw the cowboys game so I'm not in the position to make the call, I'm just thinking that maybe we should look at some sort of forward rotation, keep the guys fresh and that might help us further in the season.

I would hope Ciraldo isn't there, he clearly isn't up to FG standard. Tolar I think should be there, he has been rolling foward nicely but he still makes stupid errors in crucial stages. Our fowards this year have been very disciplined. Rogers I really don't know, it was handy to know he was there to cover when Mullo went off busted.

I am probably Tolars biggest bagger on here and the other site, but his been *shudders as he says it* VERY strong.

Ciraldo is a joke, pure and simple. Bring in Edwards and play Tolar as a backrower his done it in the past.

Or better Still if Tafua's fit bring him in.

He'll hopefully be back round 4 def not this week

Tolar is way to slow and innefective to be playing in the second row, no doubt he could but there is better players for the job. Much rather keep him up front.

Yeah Tolar is too slow to fill in at second row, I wouldn't mind if Stone brought Edwards on to the bench and used Faas as a second row option. When he played for Tonga against Samoa I thought he went really well and played quite a few minutes.

Agreed, I have been finding it funny reading all this criticism of what were Tolar's strengths a few years ago!

What on earth does speed have to do with playing in the second row? Cory Paterson is about the slowest player I have ever seen on the football field.

Patterson is faster than Tolar and he isn't built like a brick, he is better used in the backrow outwide where he has better footwork and can smash into a hole. Tolar isn't going to be effective playing wide, up the middle is his go.

Tolar in no way, shape, or form is a second rower.

As for the talk of dropping him all together, that's stupid. He's a solid front rower and has played well this season. Why drop him just for the sake of dropping him?

Because he is too old.....

Have you seen Tolar and Paterson (one t) race or something? I haven;t, but I have seen Paterson in the open on the football field and he has no pace at all. Tolar I have never thoguht of as a slow player.

Tolar did used to have great footwork and a top offload earlier in his career, when he did play some second row.

I have never seen them race.

But TBH I can't from recall Tolar making a line break in any recent seasons. I still stick by what I said, that Tolar would be innefective in the backrow. He is built for the front row. Second row he would be a waste.

He's the same age as Gidley. If he's better then Edwards atm (which Stone obviously thinks he is) then I don't wanna drop him just because "he's too old".

It's not like he's been playing crap and deserves to be dropped either. Didn't someone post that he's leading us in metres gained atm? Yeah he's not great but we don't have someone great to replace him with either. It's not like Edwards is some proven rep player.

If Stone had named Edwards in FG over Tolar and Edwards was playing how Tolar is atm, I wouldn't be saying Tolar should be in FG over him, but the fact that Stone went with Tolar round 1 to start the season and he's played solid off the bench 2 weeks in a row doesn't make me want to drop him, especially seeing as though we've had 2 convincing wins and collectively our forward pack as a whole has played well.

I would however rather Taufua over him. I've seen enough of him in FG to know that he's better then Tolar. Not sure what's going to happen round 4 when he's healthy.
