2024 - 2025 Summer of Cricket

Bancroft certainly had a horrible run of low scores.

If McSweeney doesn’t work out as an opener, then none of the obvious replacements have been consistent.

Henry Hunt has scored 2 Sheffield Shield centuries this season and a 62. He is now averaging 37 this season in the Shield, his career Shield average is 33.03.

I think CA know they dont have a longterm opener at the moment anMcSweeney is a stopgap solution.
It will be interesting to see how we use cam green when fit. I know his earmarked as the next number 4 but it wouldnt shock me if they put him up top.

Due to the age, success and continuity of the current squad we really havnt had to feel the impact franchise cricket has had on red ball development, it seems we are finding out now though.
Fraser-McGurk for example could be a test opener in the warner mould with the right development and committment to the longer form, yet his just been paid 1.6million for 2 months of ipl, cant blame these kids for not putting the work in with red ball cricket.

Green has had a spinal fusion and other players I’m aware of who have had this surgery have only had short careers as bowlers after their surgeries. James Pattinson had the same surgery and only played for Australia for 2 seasons after his surgery.

I think Green would be best to focus on becoming a specialist batsman.

Australia has previously converted batsmen like Khawaja, Langer and Boon into opening batsman.

Blackcaps back to their standard debacle after the India whitewash. Came from nowhere, went back to nowhere lol.

Yes, very disappointing.

Do you think Australia could borrow Williamson and Ravindra for next summer?
Our home test series next season consists solely of two tests vs the West Indies, so they probably will be free haha.

Thanks @Lefty

England are blooding their new fast bowlers now with the Ashes in mind. Feels like Australia are hoping that Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood will still be going then.

What do you reckon?
Yes I think we will try to play Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood, Boland and Neser.

Wow, what a start by Starc!

I’m baised being a left hander, but I think quality left arm fast bowlers are something special. Davidson, Sobers, Akram, Vaas, Reid, Zaheer Khan, Johnson, Boult and Starc,
