2024 - 2025 Summer of Cricket

Id take that day 1 over tests of yesturyear where we see a side 3/400 at stumps. Its been a great contest. We have two top orders who have been struggling (india at home and ours for the last 12 months) against 2 quality bowling attacks, 3 of the top 4 ranked bowlers are playing. Throw in a wicket with some extra day 1 spice and this is the result. I expect batting to be a little easier today and both sides to settle and adjust to the conditions. Lets just hope starcy can hang in there with carey and jag us another 50 or so runs then its game on.

Also for all the crap marnus is copping online he did exactly what a test number 3 should do when wickets are falling around him and thats occupy the crease and get through the session, he almost did it. im probably in the minority but i thoroughly enjoyed watching him try to grind it out.

Yeah I think it's getting to the time that we can't keep carrying both Labuschagne and Smith, as absurd as that would have sounded a few years ago.

I thought it was an excellent days play yesterday even though my team was embarrassed when they batted. The test series against India is the hard hitout Australia needed, it will sort out which batsmen should be retained and which need to be moved on.

Khawaja turns 39 next month, so he is a season by season proposition as well. At present there is no obvious replacement for him. We may need to replace Smith, Labuschange, Smith and Khawaja in the next 12 months.

The commentators talking up Kohli non-stop, but he's in the biggest hole of any of the batsmen in this test. 35 tests from 2020 onwards, two hundreds at an average of 31.2.

He lives in London now and just flies in to play for India. Hasn't played a domestic first class game since 2012. I don't see any runs coming from his this series and he might not even make it to the fifth test.

Biggest problem for all test sides now is the lack of games the level below such as shield along with the emphasis on T20 and other such games meaning players are not properly prepared for the longer game, batting style and concentration and therefor no pressure is placed on players due to good performances as in Shield games.
Don’t recall us or any Test side having so many older players as now and at the same time lacking players ready to replace them.
Something needs to be done to change it or Test matches will not exist, too much money and too many one day games seems to have changed it all

Throughly disappointing batting performance by Australia’s top order batsmen, thankfully Starc and Hazlewood combined to put on some valuable runs. Our batsmen must be feeling the pressure now.

Our bowlers must bowl out India cheaply again.

Virtually game over, India 200+ in front 10 wickets in hand, 3 days to go, Aussie batsmen out of form, expect India to bat all day 3 plus some, 600+ in front, game over before close of play day 4.
Despite thrashing expect same 11 to be selected for Test No2

Looking like we may be set 450-500 at this rate. Day 3 should again be a good time to bat. India would like to bat early into day 4 you would think before sending us back in on a wicket that may start to break up. jaiswal and rahul have put india in a near unloseable position.

It looks to have turned into a total road, so still some hope for Australia. Look at England scoring 800 a month or so ago.

It’s a nightmare situation for Australia.

Our bowlers will have to do a lot of bowling which will affect them later in the series.

I can’t see Australia being able to bat long enough to save the game.

How the mighty have fallen! We have been throughly outclassed. It’s embarrassing, I had to turn it off and watch something else.

McSweeney was unlucky, the ball kept low.

I was very impressed with Cummins deciding to come in a nightwatchman, he tried to lead from the front.

Labuschagne is just a walking wicket at present, he needs to be dropped to the Sheffield Shield to see if he can sort himself out, but the selectors will give him another chance.

It looks as though this is the reality check the Australian cricket team needed before next summer.

When does the NRL start again?

Definitely wasn't expecting Australia to capitulate like this. Don't understand why they've chosen a guy who doesn't usually even open to debut in this series. Bumrah is one of the toughest assignments in world cricket, and Australian pitches suit him perfectly. It's a nightmare debut scenario. Renshaw should have been in there imo.

Renshaw scored 121 in a Sheffield Shield match this month, he has averaged 37.8 in the Sheffield Shield this season. For some reason Renshaw was not selected in the 2 Australia A games.

Australia bowled out for 238, they lost by 295 runs.

It was encouraging to see Head scoting runs again, we now have 1 batsmen in form!

I can’t see us winning this series.
