2024 - 2025 Summer of Cricket

Australia bowled out for 238, they lost by 295 runs.

It was encouraging to see Head scoting runs again, we now have 1 batsmen in form!

I can’t see us winning this series.
Was a poor performance but we’ll hit back. Our batting was atrocious in the 1st innings and I think we need to shaft Marnus. He’s terribly out of form and is selfishly burning reviews. Give Renshaw or Henry Hunt a run.

That's a flogging, there is no way to sugar coat it. I heard the commentators say (and I'm paraphrasing) that India have won 4 of their last 5 and 9 of their last 14 tests in Australia. That's absurd.

Test cricket officially makes no sense. Australia always flog NZ, NZ have a great record against India, and India always beat Australia lol.

Anyway, no need for any changes for Australia, doesn’t seem like there’s anyone beating down the door, so just back these guys to turn it around. I’m sure they’ll be better in the second test, and they have a good break to regroup, too.

Tab has india as $2.50 outsiders for the adelaide test. I think we will bounce back but thats some juicy odds right there.

Australia have named the same 13 man squad for the next test.

India will be strengthened by the return of their captain, Sharma and possibly Gill. Jadeja and Ashwin are also available to play.

I’m looking forward to the axe being swung by the Australian selectors after another debacle in Adelaide.

Cameron Bancroft scored 105 not out in the Sheffield Shield today, up until his current innings he has been in poor this season.

Before the start of this season he was expected to fill the vacant opening position.

I get the impression that they have moved on from Bancroft.

In all seriousness though, how is McSweeney the next best batsman in the country?
I remember when guys like Love, Law, Hayden, Langer, Hodge, Hussey were punching out massive Sheffield Shield numbers season after season, and struggled to get a run.
I'd almost burn the whole thing down and chuck Sam Konstas in and back him for a couple of years to work it out.

Seems like all countries are battling with depth these days. It can’t help that that old pros who would used to stick around and help initiate the next generation are now off chasing cash around the world. And those young players also in los of cases only care about smashing it out the park and getting their own payday.

England’s number 3 for the first test vs NZ is on debut, he’s played 20 first class games for an average of 25, and never scored a 100 in any format.

Geez our old guys are hanging around most the team is in there 30's, but we dont have a lot of batters knocking on the door to force their way in.

Yeah most test sides seem to be heavily 30+ these days. Those players aren’t going anywhere, just the older guys at the next level down.

To be fair England’s #3 (Bethell) is only playing in the Test because the first choice wicketkeeper is on paternity leave and the second choice broke his thumb a few days ago so Pope is moving from 3 to keep wicket.

Prior to that his shield average for the year was 5.5 , his unpickable, lucky he has kept his shield spot.
