2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

6 slots left by my count.

Priority re-signing is Anthony Milford.

Players in the market I’d be keenest on us pursuing are Jeyden Berrell (back up hooker at the Sharks, has been the best 9 in Qld/NSW Cup over last two years and way more likely to get a game for us) and Angus Crichton (feel free to mock me for this).

I think our outside back depth is pretty good and I’d be looking to replace Eddie and Musgrove with a player(s) in the system or cheapie(s) from elsewhere.

Then the last spot you leave open - maybe someone will really impress in pre-season.

Angus Crichton would be a great pick up for the Knights. Good value acquisition and would noticeably improve our forward pack. Despite his recent fluctuation of form, any bloke willing to chop a finger to get on the field faster has something in them that no amount of training or talent can find.

Considering his age he'd not only be a replacement for Barnett he'd provide an insurance to losing Frizell to either form or injury.

Overpaid, overrated, and asks for an upgrade every year after signing a long term deal the year before.
I'd be trying to move him on too.

Plus he has off field issues.
Steady on… I’ve been banging on about this for two years but it’s because I apparently have an agenda against him.

Forgetting momenterally being a knights supporter and placing myself in Milford’s shoes (boots) I think I would prefer Knights to Dolphins.
….. 3 years instead of 2
….. Knights gave him the chance
….. an established club would be more likely to succeed in making semi’s etc than a new club
….. If stays doesn’t need to re-establish with new team mates, coaching styles, locality

Dolphins are looking like a basket case, if we finish the year strongly that's probably the best incentive we can give him to stay.
