2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Hull daily mail talking up a Hoy signing.
makes sense that Hoy has been getting a run at 7 if we are trying to sell him as a potential halfback.
Just another fantastic decision made by this reall smart club.

Offload the back-up fullback when the other backup fullback is injured and out for the season and the main fullback is very injury prone. The mind boggles

Wasnt Dylan Pythian mentioned somewhere as doing a trial for us, might be a backup fullback for us in the short term.

Hi everyone, Hull FC fan here wondering whats going on with Tex Hoy?

We're desperate for some creative spark and have been linked with Hoy over the last week or so.

If he does sign what kind of player do you think we'd be getting? Is he good enough for SL?

Thanks!

It’s too hard to make a fair assessment on a player like Hoy given our current state as a team. He hasn’t exactly had many opportunities that are particularly strung together. has played in the halves and at the back. Has had some solid games and from memory one really bad game.

I think with some quality senior leadership around him he will do well. Throw him to the wolves to run a team, I don’t think so he will manage.

Cheers. We've got a full back, Jake Connor, who will probably run the show.

We are desperate for some pace and running threats at half, which hopefully Hoy can provide.

We've just got rid of Josh Reynolds to hopefully make some room on the cap and our overseas quota. The thought is over here we can bring Hoy in this season.

He isn't really a half back but if its a running threat you want he should be able to bring that, i think he will do well over there given some time. Most of his football has been at fullback but he can drop a few so halves might be his future.

Can't see him getting released he is currently back up fullback with Hodgeson injured but I guess we will see after today they may reshuffle the side to play someone else there which i hope they don't.

You're incoming coach has worked with him first hand and must have made the call to get him. I think there is a pretty good player in there who hasnt had much of a chance to settle the last few years. I'd say you are getting a guy with enough of a running and passing threat to have a good impact for you guys. Once he nails down a role, i think he can thrive.

Tex is going to Hull FC - Willie is going to Hull KR.

I see you guys have got a lot of good service from our old 5/8 Carlos Tuimavave.
Tex is a pretty similar player to Carlos, maybe not as good a defender but he would be faster and has a better kicking game.

Not saying it will happen as i have no idea but a spine of 1 Ponga , 6 Millford , 7 Brooks , 9 Brailey is still a possibility and just my opinion but i think Johnsy would bring out the best in Brooks ..
At 1 time Brooks was said to be the next A Johns because of his skill set and the way he played and to be even mentioned in the same sentence as Andrew is a big wrap .

That would be a good spine, but in reality the knights injury curse will strike and we won't see them play.

Carlos has been a great servant since he got here.

We won the challenge Cup with him at 6 in his first season with us, but has really been settled at centre. He's been one of our most consistent imports in the super league era. If Tex is half as good he'll go well over here
