2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Max McKinney implies there is something going on because Gould driving up from Sydney to have a coffee with Parr seems suss.
Parr says they are old friends and had a coffee and didn't talk about anything football related - and also Santa Claus is real, the Knights are about to sign Nathan Cleary and we have funding for a new billion dollar stadium (those last 3 I might have made up, but it felt like we were here to tell fairy tales).
Doesn't Gould work with that Danny Weilder guy, where all the gossip about the Knights players is coming from?

Who is Max McKinney?

I don’t believe it for one second. What’s the difference between Gould and a disease?…I guess maybe some diseases you can put up with…

If they’re old friends then Parr might have been getting some advice off him. Makes sense to get as many different ideas as possible when it comes to fixing the Knights.

I find it rather weird how insanely anti Phil Gould people are on here. 🤣
I think Gus is good at what he does in building successful organisations. My gripes with him though are that he's a horrible commentator, and is a commentator at all which is a conflict of interest (IMO). I don't know if anyone else sees his Twitter ramblings, but he purposefully drops the 's' off the end of team names (Knight, Panther, Bulldog etc). Such a minor thing but my goodness, it makes me furious lol.

Toohey reckons we've all but given up on chasing a replacement for Brailey because Crossland is apparently doing well.

'The Knights have until August 1 to complete their roster and Berrell's name has done the rounds on social media in recent times as a potential target. But signing another hooker is no longer considered a priority at this stage, despite Jayden Brailey's season-ending knee injury.
The form of Phoenix Crossland, coupled with the versatility of Kurt Mann and the emergence of Riley Brown, has convinced the club's hierarchy to keep their powder dry. A lengthy injury to Crossland would undoubtedly force a quick rethink.'

You mean “furiou” don’t you. LOL😂

Parr did invite Gould up to the Cowboys to come and do an independent review of the club in the early 2010’s when we were crap. They are long time friends from what I’m aware of and Goulds opinions is probably someone that Parr respects.

Or it could just be true with Dogs being interested in DSaf.

I think he's the greatest footy brain alive. If I were Wests he would have been the first man I recruited the moment he become available, and if not available I'd have made him an offer he couldnt refuse

I'd rather them keep the powder dry for a long term top quality replacement ( think player to take us to a Premiership) than react and go out and get a half cooked nobody that never will be anybody. My main gripe is that should have already been done long time ago.

The funny thing is that there are 2 articles on the Herald site - one by Max McKinney and one by Robert Dillion - that use different words but come to the same conclusion.
Something suss is going down.

Definitely something is going on.....let's not forget averillo and alamoti have been told they can find another club ....maybe something brewing

I actually rate Brown from what I’ve seen. I don’t think he’s too far from a debut at all and he looks like a natural out of dummy half.

I think Gus is better at taking credit for building an organisation than he actually is at building it.
