Good Times

Sounds good. I'll apply for management first, and you can submit an application for a medical staff position afterwards.well you'd fit right in to being a Knights supporter, you should apply for a management role?

I don't think looking to the future hasn't been part of the mindset for successive Knights recruiters, I think the truth of the matter is NO HOOKER with any capability is coming near the Knights number 9 jersey with a 10 m barge pole..."decent " doesn't win premierships unfortunately. Remember this is a weak roster and we are talking about a spine position and a player with 2 season ending injuries in his short time at the club.
Look to long term next year ? shouldn't they have been looking to long term when they took over the Knights. ? We'd be flush with talent ready for first grade by now.
It's actually 3 season ending injuries. 2 ACLs and the Achilles. It was a fail to not have a decent back up hooker. But I think the even bigger fail would be for us to not look for a long term replacement. Brailey's body cannot be trusted anymore. I really hope we aren't looking to cover him with a random for a year, just for him to slot back in and watch history repeat itself.ok I will have to disagree, some studies show over 30% ( I chose the one at the top of my search page - but it is fairly common knowledge ) that's a big risk for a player on 2 season ending injuries. Place the entire teams season on 1 spine player and no good back -up ? well you'd fit right in to being a Knights supporter, you should apply for a management role?
totally agree, it's time the club got ruthless. Tap Brailey on the shoulder, part ways and move in another direction. Hopefully with a hooker that's a threat in attack. But I think the even bigger fail would be for us to not look for a long term replacement. Brailey's body cannot be trusted anymore. who is this Riley Jones you speak of ? is he a hooker with plenty of tomorrows ? or another utility playerPhoto from the Monday training session - Riley Jones, Bradman Best, Temple Kalepo, Pheonix Crossland, Kobe Rugless, Dom Young.

Well, his 3 games since coming back from his injury he suffered in the pre-season have been at hooker - 2 in Flegg and a very good outing in reserve grade on the weekend.who is this Riley Jones you speak of ? is he a hooker with plenty of tomorrows ? or another utility player
Think he goes better than ok. Brained them in last few games as you said Billy. Let’s hope he can keep it rolling. Team has improved immensely since he’s been back and he outscored Miller in D and especially attack at 9 yesterday. His running game at 9 is great.Well, his 3 games since coming back from his injury he suffered in the pre-season have been at hooker - 2 in Flegg and a very good outing in reserve grade on the weekend.
Basically he's been kicking around in juniors for years without really being a standout in any position.
Last year he had a growth spurt and forced his way into the Flegg side as a fullback, centre, 5/8 and hooker. I think 5/8 is his best spot - he's tall, very fast, very athletic and can score a length of the field try if he sees half a gap. In the Flegg game v Manly 2 weeks ago he made 2 line breaks and scored a 60 metre try and set up his winger after a long run.
So who is he? He's a very athletic utility who goes OK at hooker.
The bottom line is that players would rather live in Bondi than Newcastle. The Knights should just follow the Roosters MO and identify the best young 16 - 18 yr old spine players in Australia , sign them up to long term deals.
I admire how with Tupou and JWH getting older and nearing the end the Roosters identify the next superstars of the game, go out and sign the next generational players like Dom Young and Spencer Leniu to contribute to the next 10 yrs of their success. Clubs like the Knights just bend over and cop it without a whimper.
Lifestyle aside, surely Wests Group must have some connections in business to make attractive offers outside footy, career packages to set players up off the field?. Life after football etc?The bottom line is that players would rather live in Bondi than Newcastle.
It's why most of the best players we attract come from country towns in NSW or Qld.
It seems obvious to us that they can have a very nice life in Newcastle, but young men from cities rarely see that.Lifestyle aside, surely Wests Group must have some connections in business to make attractive offers outside footy, career packages to set players up off the field?. I was going to say roughly the same thing. Anyone with eyes know that an ACL injury in this game means a fair chance it could happen again and often does. It’s extremely rare anyone that’s done more than two comes back at all. We rolled a dice with Edrick Lee and we’re lucky we got something out of him in the end, he’s been very lucky over all.oops, in the 21st century ignorance is a choice.

"Overall, 29.5% of athletes suffered a second ACL injury within 24 months of returning to activity with 20.5% sustaining an opposite leg injury "
Anyone was always going to be better than Zammit, at least Parr is seen at the club and not on FaceTime with his cowboys gear on.getting there slowly, it might just be the result of finally having someone like Parr at the club. ?
massively unacceptable odds, and management then extended his deal. ( we arent talking Harry Grant here ) Then has had years to put in place a great contingency plan in that position.I was going to say roughly the same thing. Just said the pair met for a catch up, nothing business related. Can someone with a Herald subscription give a summary of this:
Gould's visit to Newcastle just Parr for the course
Parr met Gould earlier this week in Newcastle.www.newcastleherald.com.au
Max McKinney implies there is something going on because Gould driving up from Sydney to have a coffee with Parr seems suss. Can someone with a Herald subscription give a summary of this:
