2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

My dislike for the sharks grows deeper. Didn’t think it’d go more then the dislike then when Gallen played for them. But seems it can.

Hindsight, they could have taken their first choice in Maps. Least talented out of all the other choices. Losing any of the others would have enraged me. Concerning Myles event went for a chat. Would have started a bomb fire at the stadium if Ferguson or Sharp were taken.

I just read it. Really disappointing the club suggested to Myles that he go talk to them. He’s undoubtedly one of our best junior forward. Probably the best, with another off season could be anything.

In the end we released the better option. Forgo, Sharp and Myles should have been straight “get flipped”.

In Tooheys news today he says the reason the Miller swap took so long is because Cronulla wanted Maps as their first choice swap, Myles Martin was their second choice, who met with Fitzgibbon and rejected their overtures, then asked for Fletcher Sharpe and the Knights said no, and it finally came down to Ethan Ferguson or Max Bradbury. Whoever their scout is, he has a fair handle on our junior talent.
Probably helps that the Sharks have Darren Mooney back as their Football GM.

The source would be Casey Bromilow, he spent time as Knights Pathway Manager and would have a good handle on who might make NRL. He’s now at the Sharks running their women’s program.

Myles Martin has the rare mix of size and mobility like Willie Mason in the day, but I think he'll either play for Australia or be one of those guys who is a bully in juniors but not tough enough for seniors. I'm happy he's staying because, as you say, he could be anything, but he might also be nothing.

This would be a real shame lol.

ROOSTERS WANT SUAALII DEAL DONE

The Sydney Roosters have let player agent Isaac Moses know they want to avoid a contract circus around emerging superstar Joseph Suaalii.

It’s well-known the teenager is the primary target for Rugby Australia with talk the rival code will pay well in excess of $1.5 million per season for the NRL rookie.

When the Roosters signed Suaalii from South Sydney the club clinched the deal by agreeing to allow him a get-out clause every season.

The fine print stipulates he has to tell the Chooks by May every year whether he’s on board for the following season.

Suaalii has told the Roosters he loves the club and wants to remain at the Tricolours but so far there’s been no movement on removing the get-out clause.

The Roosters have told Moses in no uncertain terms they don’t want headlines on a daily basis about his future and are aiming to get the 19-year-old locked down for 2024 as soon as possible.

Suaalii has time on his side in terms of his development as an NRL player and is expected to become a major threat playing in the centres for the Roosters this year.

thought of moses bending politis over fills me with joy 🤣

If he was injury free definitely yes . Sign him up at present ? Knowing the Knights luck we would end up with a broken down
racehorse !😀

He's far from a perfect player in general. Very prone to defensive mistakes especially when he's playing big minutes. Ideally he's probably an impact player off the bench but he'd walk into the starting side here when healthy.
