2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

You are all missing that the Knights went to the Roosters asking for a swap.

They counter offered with a transfer fee because they want to keep their good players, like most well run clubs should.

On ya Vossy.

“What would be the chances of the Roosters releasing one of their marquee players to a rival a week out from the start of the season?,” Voss said on SEN 1170 Breakfast.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if the Knights were to sign Joey Manu and they requested an immediate release.

Sums it up.
Love Vossy, he’s a legend.

You clearly need to hop online and watch the juniors on the weekend. U18’s to Jflegg have some wonderful talent coming through, best I’ve seen in a long time.

Thinking your negativity needs to get out to an oval and watch what is coming through

Probably would help

I saw on facebook the Rorters have rejected our request fir one of the Egan brothers and they want Young released immediately with a transfer fee to be paid by them.

Nah Transfer or watch him play reserve grade

Knights need to be ruthless like the Storm, Roosters and Broncos of old!

It's clear someone at the Roosters is using the Tele to drive the agenda and try and force the Knights hand... but, after listening to Parr today I have no doubt Young will be at the Knights this year, unless there is a genuine benefit for us to release him early.

From that article.

The Knights, who spotted Young as a 17-year-old playing junior rugby league in England and gave him his first NRL opportunity, were filthy - despite tabling the lowest of the four offers.

Says all there is to say. We low balled him, other clubs came in with decent offers. Considering the cap is going up, we can't have made a more competitive offer?

What the F is this club thinking seriously.

And we didn't spot him at all, several other clubs wanted him as well and we signed him.

I think if Gardner was still directly calling the shots, that might be the case. Parr's public statements and past stances make that very unlikely. It's either give us an equal or better player in return or wait until 2024.

He would have gone anyway. He was willing to move from England to Australia to back himself because he extremely driven to succeed. He got here and worked on his game to become an nrl quality player. Now he is taking the next step to become a nrl top player for a nrl top club. Unfortunately for us we are not a top club. We should try and use every bit of the leverage we have now.
The roosters get what they want. We get thier discards. Sad but true.

Did you listen to the clip on that? It's sad how they're talking about Jason Ryles possibly taking over as the Dragons coach, and Greg Alexander says he's a "Craig Fitzgibbon quality assistant coach, not an Adam O'Brien standard assistant coach" 😂

Where was the lowball? We offered his market rate 500k. From a little whisper I'm hearing the roosters actually offered less but you know.......roosters!

500k isn't a low ball offer for a kid that plays on the wing and can be found out with kicks in behind him...

Difference is Roosters are a top 4 team the Knights are a bottom 4 team.

That's why players will leave this club, until that changes and we are competitive and making the finals you can't expect any players to stay here while Ponga and Daddy get as much money as possible
