2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Why chase TVS or Manu when we can chase Miller?

Especially considering we can comfortably afford either of RTS or Manu. And knowing how desperately we could use either of those players to fix our roster as we do not currently have a FG fullback at the club. I think it makes more sense to chase a 27 year old back up fullback from another club

I'm not sure where you get this idea that there is a huge chunk of salary cap free from, they just had to punt klemmer to get hastings.
That player swap was made out of expediency. Funding was an after thought.

We'd have a bunch of cash to spend. Until we got rid of Klemmer we had neither a fullback or a halfback..... And our forward pack is hardly 'marquee'. Our backline is populated with value buys and junior talent who've yet to make the step to large contracts, excluding Gagai who's on about $500-600k from reports as our biggest earner.

I don't understand how anyone could think we don't have at least enough to chase one significant marquee player

Just do some maths:

KP 1.1m
Dsaf/Friz 700k
Brailey / Hastings 550k
Gags 500k
Elliott/Hethrington/Jsaf all be on 400k+
And I don't want to think what they've given to Fitz/Mann/Best

Should be exciting to watch at the least, the hard dummy halves carry's out of our own halves won't be an issue with him and Dom.

3 year deal? As @slotmachine is fond of saying, why a long contract when we would be bidding against no one.
