2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

He’s also told Titans fans he’s leaving and it’ll be announced this week according to some bloke on Twitter, which I’m inclined to believe given the other clues.

Herald article on Dobson.
The article goes through the junior success we had last year and says we were in contention for 4 titles (Ball, Flegg, Tarsha Gale and NRLW) and only won one.
Says Dobson replaces Garth Brennan, but the article avoids saying that the approach Brennan took of casting a really wide net and trying out maybe double the number of players we usually use was largely the reason we did so well in 2022.
All Dobson says in the article is that he has a big job to do. He talks about having 250 players to watch and how some of them are training on any given day across multiple venues across the city
He doesn't say anything about what his approach will be, or about who his team coaches will be, and I assume he must have appointed them all by now.
Even though he was only mentioned once, what I got from the article was how good a job Garth Brennan did in 2022. I suspect we wouldn't have seen all the late developers like Riley Jones, Kurt Donoughue, James Johnson, Floyd Tighe, Cal Burgess, Brock Creacen etc etc etc without Brennan basically giving any kid who could lace up a boot a chance to step up.

Anyway, Dobson has big shoes to fill and a job that burnt out Garth Brennan in half a season. If he does half as well as Brennan he'll be doing well.

Get off the beers mate, you’re cooked.

Sorry very drunk in Thailand 🇹🇭

Rushed the post without context

I meant to say on current games played...

Of course Brailey is better but I believe his injuries have impacted his performances...

He still hasn't got the right pass in him yet and goes the wrong way a lot...

Again not his fault just no consistent halves or dominant halves but I have seen them pretty angry with him for not going the right way a few times.

Hopefully our new spine (hopefully we land a fullback) stays on the field and yes will can make the 8 if the Safs do a job up front!

I think we need to throw the kitchen sink at Manu for fullback 2024 if possible would complete the spine.

Klemmer $800k

Then release;

Mann (He is not required at all with Clune and Gamble).

Fitzgibbon (Reached his ceiling but see how he goes with KP at 5/8).

Randall (we have other young guys and gamble)

We have a cheap-ish 7 and 9 so Manu isn't out of the question at all!

See if they have any brains at all...

1. Manu/Hodgson
6. Ponga/Gamble
7. Hastings/Clune
9. Brailey/Mann/Huth

Could be dangerous

Manu is locked up till 25 I'm sure he is definitely the pick but just a pipe dream that all knights fans wish would happen

I agree if possible.
But if not we should have a truck load to throw at the best fullback available in 2024.
