NRL General Recruitment and Retention

He’s really not very good at his job. The only two people who were shocked when Melbourne extended Hughes were him and Jonah.
You could argue the opposite. He obviously didn't like the options he had last year eg knights. So he re signed with the storm where he would have stayed long term if Hughes or Munster left but also maintained the flexibility to move if they stayed. I don't think anyone can argue it's worked out great for him and that he'll be in a much better position at the Broncos than if he signed with the knights. I'm sure Jonah is stoked with the work Anasta has done for him.

You're conflating process & outcome there. He got lucky. The process involved an assumption Melbourne wouldn't do whatever it took to keep Jahrome. Foolish process.

Plus he could literally have done nothing and reached the same outcome. In fact he could have joined the Broncos a year earlier, Reynolds only re-signed for 2026 in June. Hughes re-signed end of July.

If that makes you feel better that's fine. The fact is Anasta has got Jonah to the premiers who have dynamic young players everywhere. No matter what you think of him Anasta put the odds in their favour and they won. That's good management

We have only seen Jonah have 1 good game so don't actually know how he will go as the general over a season.

Legit. **** that arrogant and injury prone traitor. For the remainder of his career he will be our adversary, an opponent. And for the remainder of his life he'll be the guy who turned his back on his home town, his boyhood club and its thousands of loving fans.

Blokes a flop. **** the Broncos and **** the Pezet family

Pezet is still living off the hype of his junior days, so far he actually hasn’t lived up to absolutely any of it, he has had in my eyes only 1 good game where he actually stood out apart from that he looked average.

It will be good to see him at the Eels and see if he can be that origin caliber player he was touted to be, I honestly think he is just another player that had an amazing junior career but is average or maybe slightly above average in the NRL, it’s hard to judge as he was in the Melbourne system a system that tries to hide the weakness of its players and play to their strengths, even Cogger won a premiership at Panthers but obviously not because he is a good player but the system worked for him.

Now Pezet is moving to the Eels we will see In 2026 if he can actually live up to the hype.

Anasta needed Jonah to play more footy in which he did. That's all on Jonah. Anasta did a whole lotta sweet FA to get him to Brisbane. Madge liked what he saw.

I think he has the makings of a class > elite half back. Yes still earlier days, time will tell. I’m happy we have DB and Sandon. Yes we may have paid overs for DB but got Sandon at a good price. We tried for Pezet but got these two guys so it’s all worked out in the end.

Totally, his comment that "we've been holding him back too long" is exactly what the majority on here were mocking about the whole thing, and going by the interview, it's only just occurred to Anasta.

Pretty much worked out for Pezet in spite of Anasta, rather than because of him. He also speaks about believing what the Storm told him about Hughes will be going to Queensland in 2026, next year we'll have Munster at fullback and there'll be a starting spot for Pezet ... he seems extremely naive just to take all this at face value. Then he also says Pezet is the highest IQ individual he's met in his life, which seems a rather odd comment. 🤣

Well Braith works at Fox, so Jonah probably is the highest IQ individual he’s met in him his life, by a long way too
