Our big signing between last year to this is Schiller who couldn’t get a crack at first grade at the Canberra Knights. (Basically only because he signed with the Knights) I agree, nobody gives a s*** about us and where we are at, in fact I’d go one step further and say Newcastle is the team everyone loves to hate nowadays. “Newcastle is a bottom 4 team” “most over rated” “zero talent” You go on antisocial media and anytime someone mentions Ponga it’s met with fowl, utter hatred and disdain like he’s personally s*** on their dinner plate.
Do you know I even saw a comment where someone said yesterday, “I’d hate Ponga at my club” Like someone actually said that.
Yeah it's always tough when your club loses a popular big name player like that. Especially when they've made their name and been developed through your club. We've seen it plenty of times in recent years. Tough for their fans.

I live in the Parramatta area, so I am surrounded by Eels supporters and I have 2 nephews who are hard core Eels fans. So I have some empathy for them.

He also wanted those get out clauses because he was really close to BA and wanted the chance to re-evaluate if Brad got sacked at some stage… which he did.
That his management pushed for those clauses for that reason maybe points to a bit of dysfunction within the organisation and a lack of trust in them from a lot of the players. Like he had the feeling the other shoe was about to drop. So I don’t have much sympathy for Parra cos they’ve done it to themselves.
If Dylan’s agreed to a long term deal with us with no get out clauses, as much as getting him away from his previous club was definitely about money to a big extent, I think we must have given him the impression we’re more stable than Parra - eg, it’s a safe bet that the coach who Brad Arthur would have told Dylan is a great great bloke is going to be there for years to come. I don’t think we actually have been that stable, so what does that say about the Eels?
Have some sympathy for the fans of course but not enough to outweigh how chuffed I am that we stole a genuine marquee star from them. The Eels would traditionally be thought of as more of a destination club.

Not in the slightest, professional sport i don’t feel sorry for a single club I say suck it and move on, just like I’d expect from others.
I think it's a strength to have consideration for others.

Joey's thoughts on DylBro going to the Knights.
- Joey thinks he's a 6 currently but understands why we offered him a large offer due to lack of halves.
- Joey says he has the tools to a good halfback if
- Mentions about a lot of the halves that are about to retire and that there's a shortage of legitimate halves coming through.
- Also talks about of weight restrictions for young halves.
As much as I always think Matty Johns is one of the best football brains, having listened to them both I'm much more impressed by Joey's take on this.
Matthew was talking about how playing halfback is totally different to playing 6. Andrew says the traditional roles don't really matter so much with teams being so well drilled, it's more about calling the right play and making it happen. I think we see that with teams like the Storm ... Matthew seems a bit outdated in his thinking?

Matty is a **** who just likes bagging the knights. Actually listen to him when he talks about them! Hammers us all the time! no one knows what they are doing blah blah blah!
I actually thought this more about Joey. He has bagged and bagged about getting Pryce in the halves or how they should attack, clearly another who doesn’t back Obi. Obi has made mistakes for sure but not as much as people think.
Genuinely surprised by Joey’s comments on this as I was expecting negativity but he did make strong points about the kicking game and being a voice. Golden lining for Brown with Moses out now is to try and develop that voice now and then for Newy to continue developing their style and who calls what.
I see us a little like warriors and trying to reach Melbourne style footy. Running halves conducted by the 9. Grant organiser the team basically and Hughes and Munster react and execute.
Warriors need to do same if they’re going with Metcalf (though they absolutely should have Boyd or TMM in there somewhere) they need Egan to be the dominant player and directing team.
With Us Crossy needs to be lead there too with good distribution and leading, and Arthur eventually adding to that. Once our ruck and forward get the role on and provide room, there would be little to stop KP/Sharpe/Brown let alone space for Best/Gags/Lucas/KPP/McEwen

I want the Knights to win, now to do that we need a team better than the others and if we can grab a teams good player and add them to ours to strengthen us and weaken them I say go head first.
I couldn’t care less about with rival fans think and feel.
But again I’m no softie and it is just a opinion so it is what it is

I really don’t get the media being so against the Brown signing. Sure it’s expensive and long, 8 years plus 2 option years at the end.
Are they going to blow up like this when Galvin signs his next contract??? I reckon it’ll be a minimum of 6 to 8 years and be at least $1 million a year. That’s for a kid with 2 years first grade experience. That’s a bigger gamble then we have made in my opinion
I reckon it’ll become common if you find a good young half to lock them up on long term on deals of around 8 years because you’re gonna want to keep them. Otherwise you end up in halves purgatory
