Pretty sure the 1.3 is going to be on the cap. & guaranteed by the club . Might pick up a bit of cream on top of that .

Yes it’s a nice change of pace.
He’s a complete natural.
He speaks well, knows what he’s talking about, and his voice isn’t an actual physical assault on your ears. Plus, he looks good doing it 😍

It’s 2025, we shouldn’t have to listen to ancient relics, who can’t even pronounce players names like Blocker speak about the game. It’s painful.

It could happen. I guess then criticism may come re: spending all that money on a five-eighth and putting a 21 year old at 7. May wind up simpler to just leave Sharpe with 6 on his back. IMO the number on the player's back does not matter, and AOB will just do what the players feel most comfortable with. Winning obliterates most criticism.

I think a long-kicking game from Fletcher is more important at this stage. DylBro has a fairly handy short-kicking game. Phoenix and KP also quite capable near the opposition try line. Ideally, I’d like Ponga chasing attacking kicks though
 
OK, so now Dave Riccio's take is the deal is extraordinary because we weren't bidding against a third party, only Parramatta. I'd love to be in the room with him to ask what his point was. We were bidding against the contract he already had with Parramatta. If we'd offered to match that deal, what would he have done in Riccio's mind? Problem is there is just not enough news to go around for all these parasites to get a feed.

Exactly, just about staying relevant and having content.

Sure, we weren't bidding against other clubs, though he conveniently forgets there was supposedly another club silent bidding, but let's assume we were only bigging against the Parramatta existing contract.

That contract has value already, and is long term still, and reportedly worth near a million a year anyway. To lure him away, there has to be sufficient benefit to Brown to sign. Brown wasn't disgruntled with Parra, so why would he move? Longer contract and more money.

That is simply what we had to offer to get him over the line. Parra could have matched it, or thrown in another 2 years on their contract for an extra 100k which is pennies under the cap and future cap. They didn't, they lost him.
 
I don't feel sorry for them, the clause apparently made the contract cheaper for them, and they were the ones who agreed to it. They redid Moses contract for more but would not for Brown. They also were not keen to change the contract to compete at all. Brown mightve stayed on less if they had offered 1.1-1.2m with no player options.

I feel sorry for their delusions that losing a high quality half was a positive thing and easily replaceable.

Recently we have lost Dom and Leo to opposition teams and nobody cared about us. Last weekend commentators must have referenced Leo being in his last year at the Knights before he goes to the Dogs for 4 years, almost every time he handled the ball.
This seems to be the way it is in 2025, and possibly throughout NRL history, with Souths and Wests being the clubs termited by the Rorters and Manly respectively.
