2025 Recruitment And Retention

From the article:

- Says a decision is expected in the next week
- Says Knights officials had a dinner with Pezet that also included Ponga
- Storm have also tabled a "sizeable offer"
- Meeting with Storm again next week, Pezet's camp want assurance he'd be able to leave Storm if Hughes extends his deal
- Knights are most serious threat to sign him with an offer "in the vicinity of $2.5m over four years"
- There were umours on Friday that Pezet was close to a deal with the Knights, but "it is understood that the Storm remain well and truly in the mix"
He stays in Melbourne does his ACL again they keep Hughes there is no way his getting that kind of money again.

They’re gonna prioritise keeping Hughes no matter what IMO. Dally M winner & he and Harry Grant are far more consistent and reliable than their other spine players. They would be nuts to let Jahrome walk.

If push comes to shove, Munster is the one they’ll allow to be squeezed out by cap constraints.

Jonah doused by the most enthralling sales pitch of his life, where Ponga would've been throating him all dinner, making whisperings of Jonah running his own team heading into a premiership window, some of the best juniors in the country etc etc.

He would've hopped into his car that night about 90% convinced he was signing with the Knights.

Not done yet. Though can't see this playing out very long. Either the Storm concede to making commitments they're likely to regret or they let him know they can't. Doesn't take long.

So $650k year. That’s a good offer. It’s a slight risk, obviously everything thinks he has a high ceiling. Well I hope we do the deal. We think if he signs with us, Melbourne will release him for next year?

Not sure I agree about the risk.

Its 650k to immediately improve our halfback, with a fair amount of upside thereafter.

Considering its the only play available to us, it happens to be a pretty good play.

I'd highly doubt they release him. They use it as s bit of a deterrent for players signing elsewhere in the future.

Can already hear what Guru will be saying on next Bloke podcast:
“They already have five halves, do they really need another? I mean, they’re all good players, they can all play rugby league! Hastings took them to 5th place a year ago, Cogger was a grand final winner for Christ’s sake! Just pick 2 and stick with them!”

Jerkface

“If I suck up enough to Hastings will he marry me?”
Ironically I just watched the knights segment in the bloke transfers show. Wanted to see if they mentioned Pezet as an option.

Kempy brought up Pezet as a good option to bring in as our 7. Guru’s immediate response “Isn’t it amazing the fall from grace of the halves that took them to the finals 12 months ago” - Buddy, we get it you love Hastings, and Gamble was injured for majority of last season.

Guru mentions he’s not high on Pezet being the leader of a club.
