2025 Recruitment And Retention

Or continues to prove that the drama in head office will continue until we get a change in leadership from the top..
Mate, you've provided heaps of valuable information to the forum, and I'm glad you're back. But you're clearly close enough to the club to have a vested interest in some people over others.

Our head of recruitment said in a public interview that the roster is good. That's not the 'gotcha' that Adam seems to think it is.

Doyle wasn't in the back pocket of admin. He was vested in all juniors etc. Aob didn't like the fact that his guys he put forward had good debuts and made good transitions. Much was the same with Ron. Where are they now........

I'm glad O'Sullivan had a "road to Damascus" moment and realised there were plenty of green shoots in the lower grades.
It looked like he was going to throw about 10 guys on the scrapheap who now seem back in the good books.

Sorry but wtf? AOB didn’t like that Ron and Doyle did their job and put forward first grade ready players?

He’d prefer the opposite?

And this is how good clubs are run????
How are those 9 other guys feeling about the togetherness of the club, particularly those who were publicly named.
This type of leadership doesn’t result in outstanding success, at best it results in mediocrity.
That’s what we have at the Knights.
Hopefully our young “green shoots” can get some good support from our senior players in 2025.
Sometimes it’s really hard being a Knights supporter. It feels like we are watching the same slow motion car crash under the current administration.

I wonder what the flow on effect of hunt to broncos will be. mixer and black are real talents imo and stuck behind a few players particularly in the case of mozer. We have depth at 9 but think he will end up being the pick of all of them.

If we look to the aob resume.......storm, roosters assistant coach, watching Bellamy and Robbo look at their ceo for confidence. His was/is trying to do that here.

It just won't work in Newcastle. Our ceo isn't a guy who should be in charge of anything football related, hence they brought in parr and then O'Sullivan, 2 senior guys who could stand up, their relationships started off rocky with admin but the club as a whole realises they should be respected.

Ronnie and Doyle just DID. The club didn't like it. In footy your taught that you can be either a follower or leader and it's up too you too choose which one.

A lot of what people say about Gardiner is just assumptions. Footballing staff change all the time. Peter O’ Sullivan is one of the best recruitment men in the game his cv trumps Doyle’s any day of the week.

I haven’t heard Ronnie say a bad word about the knights. His been at a few clubs now including the tigers.

CEO’s role is to ensure the strategy of the board is achieved and essentially ensure the club remains solvent. The board wanted to remove Nathan brown so the CEO is the face of that decision.

I don’t know how Peter parr and Gardiner operate or the nature of their working relationship however if Peter parr felt like he couldn’t do his role he would’ve left already. We love to punch this club when we aren’t winning.

He saved this club from insolvency so fans need to pay credit to him regardless of how they think his performed.

Yeah Parr would have walked if he wasn't happy . Rumoured the Dragons were after him a while back .Say what you like about Gardener/Club . But they have employed two of the best operators in the business . Don't think either of them would be "yes" boys

Unless people on here have some inside knowledge and have actually worked with Gardiner it just sounds like there is a repeating of what is in the media from only Sydney journos who have a random bone to pick.

It’s a weird strategy. The clubs juniors are the best it’s been, that’s being bankrolled by Gardiner and he’s fully behind it.
He’s rarely in the media saying stupid ****, though yes he has said some cringeworthy ****.

The anger about Ron? Yeah I get it, if the club didn’t make the Cup side coaching role full time and let him have total control then yeah it’s our loss. But hating on Jeffries in a season that had no CJ from injury and Rima for half of it and a finals game against a full strength roosters When most our big front rowers were out.

We forget the girls absolutely dominated 3 weeks prior to that game and were looking solid.
Poor to judge him in 9 games.

Doyle had a contract, Alex Mac had a contract. All shown the door with a cheque enclosed. Ron will never bad mouth the knights, they gave him an opportunity to come home, he surpassed expectations by just doing. He wanted to bring juniors through quicker than the club wanted.
The board sat down with all parties and it was made known that these guys needed more breathing room to operate. We haven't heard from Mr ceo regarding anything much now.

Even knights media was involved in said meeting as aob wanted to keep things on the down low. It's only been recently we have been hearing a touch more.

If Gamble wants a lot of gametime in 2025 he should be training for lock or second row.
I looked at his player record and he only played a few games out of the halves in his career.
He's big enough and aggressive to play in the forwards, and he's unlikely to keep the 6 jersey all season, but could play 13-17 every game.

From the article:

- Says a decision is expected in the next week
- Says Knights officials had a dinner with Pezet that also included Ponga
- Storm have also tabled a "sizeable offer"
- Meeting with Storm again next week, Pezet's camp want assurance he'd be able to leave if Hughes extends his deal
- Knights are most serious threat to sign him with an offer "in the vicinity of $2.5m over four years"
- There were rumours on Friday that Pezet was close to a deal with the Knights, but "it is understood that the Storm remain well and truly in the mix"
