2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

I would sincerely pick Mitchell Moses over Munster, of the players available after Nov 1. Obviously Munster is the better player but Moses fills a need for us more.

Moses has a better boot & does more to help you control the game, and might be the best player down the right hand short side in the NRL. I think also Munny will cost $1.5 million+ if he leaves Melbourne and I don’t think he’s $4-500K more valuable than Moses.

You'd think the tigers would be trying to keep Brooks, Douhie, and Hastings. Unless they get lucky and land a Munster or Moses.

For 2023 at least, if you're the Tigers it's probably worth seeing how they go with the Sheens/Benji coaching combo.

As evidenced by the Knights trying to collect all the reserve grade tier halves in the world at the moment, first graders aren't exactly easy to come by currently.

Article in the Courier Mail says the Dolphins are keeping an eye on Bradman Best if he becomes available. That alone isn't much of a story because I'm sure most clubs that have any confidence in their coaching/development staff are doing the same, but it's just more smoke for Bradman being on the outer.

I don’t see a top line player, such as Munster going to a side like Knights, Tigers or Dolphins no matter what the pay is, yes a middle of the road side with potential to rise such as Broncos or Titans who just happen to be QLD a likely family destination

This just out from Cameron Munster...

“(This decision) will be about where I can play my best footy and doing what is best for my family. That’s all it is. It’s not about money.”

“It’s about what my partner wants, it’s not about me anymore. It’s about helping her out if do want to have more kids. We’re weighing up the best fit for myself, but as a family as well.”

“I’ve put everything on the backburner at the moment. The last couple of weeks have been pretty heated negotiation-wise. I felt like it crept into my game a little bit.”

Knights recruitment team, please throw everything at this guy! The primary reason everyone dislikes him is that he is that bloody good. All other knights players would absolutely lift if he was here, guaranteed. Newcastle's a great place for a young family, just stay away from the Del.

He hasn't done spit in the last 6 weeks

By the sounds of things on a few Instagram posts it looks like Mac Baker and Harry Croker might be on the move too.

Mac Baker is good enough to play firstgrade.
He should go to a team that will give him a shot.

Harry Croker is another who looks good but hardly gets a run.
With Keeley suspended this week in Flegg, I don't know why they wouldn't give Harry Croker his spot.

Surely after the season and accolades, Luke Huth has had in Cup, we look at getting him on a Development Deal for 2023 with an option to promote for 2024 to replace a below-average attacking hooker in Chris Randall. Don't get me wrong, love his efforts and defensive work rate but after over a season of first-grade games still hasn't seemed to kick on in attack.

Exactly right. Definitely should be given a development deal.

I think we get 3 development deals, if so I think we would be stupid not to have Luke Huth and Oryn Keeley to fill those deals up with Chris Vea'ila already signed to a development deal next season. Looking to promote all 3 in 2024 with Huth coming in for Randall, Keeley coming in for either Fitzgibbon, Johns or Jones and Vea'ila coming in for Hunt or Tuala.

Knights halfback Adam Clune has knocked back an approach from Warrington to move to the Super League.

It comes as speculation mounts fellow Knights playmaker Jake Clifford won’t be at the club next year. Clifford started this season with a bang in the opening rounds but has fallen out of favour with coach Adam O’Brien.

Even though Clifford still has a year to run on a contract reportedly worth $450,000, the mail is both parties would be willing to cut ties if Clifford can find a new club.

It be picking Moses also, partner him with Ponga at 5/8 would be a great halves combo.

But I would be very surprised if either ends up here. Moses or Munster.
This then play Pryce at fullback in 24' and we suddenly have a top 4 spine.

All we need to do is throw the house at Moses, sack AOB and anything is possible for 2024.

Or we can let AOB sign Croft and a handful of other mongs and permit the mediocrity to live on
