2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

That is the plan.

It just leaves us in need of a decent fullback. We will have to wait a see what happens with Garrick and French
If that's the way we go, I'd go garrick. He's not necessarily amazing but he's a bit like Edwards at the panthers, he's 100% committed, dependable and better yet he can kick goals.
Funny enough, that makes him KP's polar opposite.

It appears that Jake Clifford is being shopped around. The SMH is reporting that Manly have been given the opportunity to sign Jake Clifford but they do seem to be interested.

Garrick would be on about $250K at the moment I’d imagine and if he’s being signed to play fullback I think we’d pay him double that & likely a little more. Gutho got $500K from Parra to play fullback for them after having proven a lot less as a player for Manly.

Makes sense for Manly to want to keep Garrick, really good player, but holding a guy back from their first real pay day as an NRL player when they’re in their mid 20’s can be pretty hard. My understanding is that they’re under a bit of cap pressure and even freeing up an extra $130K or so might be valuable to them, so I don’t think it’s impossible that they decide to let him move on.

Madden off to Broncos 2 years

Tigers going to extend Brooks..

According to Toohey the Knights once again are going after Brooks and only Brooks if they sign him Clifford will be gone.

So basically our halves are this for 2023.

6. Gamble/Mann
7. Clifford/Clune

Unless we sign Brooks of course but not looking likely is it
why are we solely focused on signing Brooks? surely they have a back up plan otherwise they haven't learnt a thing from this year and we will be left without a halfback again and O'Brien will just use it as an excuse again.

The Brooks plan isn't the greatest plan in the first place anyway

No backup plan from what I can see, Pryce isn't coming, Hodgson isn't ready so pretty much all eggs into the brooks basket like this season...

Doesnt sound promising...
