2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

2023 LOSSES WARRIORS
Euan Aitken (The Dolphins), Daejarn Asi (released), Lleyton Finau (released), Jackson Frei (released), Chanel Harris-Tavita (retired), Eliesa Katoa (Melbourne Storm), Matthew Lodge (Roosters), Dunamis Lui (released), Jack Murchie (released), Kodi Nikorima (The Dolphins), Pride Petterson-Robati (released), Junior Ratuva (released), Ashley Taylor (retired), & Reece Walsh (Brisbane Broncos).

Jack Murchie and Daejarn Asi are the only two who will attract serious NRL attention. Both seem to have some potential, wonder where we will see them. Dunamis Lui will be at Dolphins next year which was rumoured earlier this year.

Crossland just signed a new deal.

Unless some major changes/sackings occur see little change for 2023 we have poor options for 6 & 7 and not looking so good at 3 & 4 when at start of year it looked our strong area.
On the plus sign we have gone well in our Flegg team and it it hoped that some players will develop over the next 1-2 seasons keeping in mind they are a youngish side. Like to see all that qualify for Flegg stay in that comp and be developed by bringing players up to Cup for a few games rotating the potentially better ones with permanent promotion in 2024 after getting some experience playing against senior players.
We have a very ordinary Cup side with many under contract for 2023 but likely to not be with us in 2024 so we will be looking for some replacements as well of further development of players such as Mapapalangi, Sasagi, Lucas, Veaila, Hodgson, Croker and Thompson.

Explain how you can possibly think this.

The rest is irrelevant, he just said himself if another club had a more permanent role for him he'd likely have to take it. It didn't happen.
Talks up every junior we have honestly not sure if he watches first grade matches very often

Except we won the same number of games with sexy texy on a development deal playing fullback as the million dollar man KP this year.
KP is who I would be releasing but can't do that now 😕

Did himself no favours.
I suppose his coach will know he couldn't hold on in tackles because he couldn't use one arm with any force, but fans will be talking about his weak defence for years.
He is **** mate just accept it

Apparently DCE is prepared to walk from Manly.

Wow if this club has any zest for life it will be throwing everything at him for a 2 year contract.

1. Ponga
6. ?
7. DCE.
9. Brailey

Really after how many team mates hate him.

Massive pass he is so overrated and the reason Manly suck.

Our 2023 roster is weaker than 2022 how is that even possible 😳

I've just realised that our 2022 season was perhaps the worst season in the clubs history.

Comparing it to 2016/2017, we were a young squad and were deliberate in rebuilding and so no one expected any success. We blooded young guys who are still with us today. There were many positives from that period, not least of which was signing Ponga and then Pearce and so on.

This year was nothing less than a complete demoralisation of the club, the players and its fans because there was no purpose behind how things played out, we just failed on every front. We were arguably as bad as this roster is capable of being

Scariest part of all, the club is sticking with the coach.... man

So I wonder if Brett Hodgson being sacked as Hull FC coach has any bearing on Tex Hoy's contract. Hodgson seemed to be the only one pushing to sign Hoy.

2 random thoughts whoever was involved with releasing Pearce without having a signed sealed and delivered replacement should be burned at the stake.

2nd anyone else reminded of Hagen with Obi and sadly Obi doesn’t have a Joey around?
