2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

This then play Pryce at fullback in 24' and we suddenly have a top 4 spine.

All we need to do is throw the house at Moses, sack AOB and anything is possible for 2024.

Or we can let AOB sign Croft and a handful of other mongs and permit the mediocrity to live on
Price hasn't even stepped foot in the country yet and we have no idea how he will go and you think he will help give us a top 4 spine ... You could be right but you could be wrong too he could be a Dom Young in that case woo hoo, but he could be another Sam Tomkins who had a huge wrap in England but was absolute crap and went home with his tail tucked between his legs.

I’m not betting on Pryce being the answer either.

Should be getting multiple young prospects in, way more likely to find answers at 7 and 6/1 if we are the ones to unearth them, than we are to sign someone like Mitch Moses.

Again, look at Melbourne. They didn’t bet it all on one prospect. They picked up Brandon Smith, Harry Grant, Ryan Papenhyuzen, Jahrome Hughes, Scott Drinkwater, Brodie Croft, Nicho Hynes, and many others.

Brooks is way better than Croft at least. Brooks would win Man of Steel 3 times back to back. They **** themselves over there every time they encounter a half with a bit of pace.

I dunno, I sort of prefer buying a few tickets on the ****ty half carousel compared to blowing all my cash in one go for the privilege of having manure dumped on my head.

Why can’t we take something positive out of this player.
He come out of the Melbourne Storm system/Has finals experience knows what it takes to win and what winning is all about.
Great competitor and has great knowledge/education about playing his role. And has had a unreal season in the super league.
Why not give him a crack with gamble/Clifford I see so many positives out of this and it makes me exited that we could have another great signing on board.
Back ur coaching staff and Experienced players to get the best out of Gamble/Croft things could become really exiting to much negative stuff on here be happy have faith in this club.

It does not, in fact, look like he’s likely to sign with us, and there really wouldn’t be any positives in it if we did.

He took all that Melbourne Storm experience to Brisbane and proceeded to lead them to a wooden spoon. I know a lot of other things went wrong for them but he was among the biggest negatives.

We already signed a half who thoroughly outplayed him in his chances at the same club, no doubt on less money.

Croft is not a good NRL player. I couldn’t give a tinkler’s fig what he’s done in England. When he records 50 try assists in a season over there maybe I’ll think about saying he deserves a chance in the NRL again.

I sincerely think he is the worst player I’ve ever seen get a multi-year run as the first choice 7 at any club.

Melbourne let him go. Bellamy gave him his chance, then replaced him with Hughs. Then he went to the Broncos and did nothing.

I think we get 3 development deals, if so I think we would be stupid not to have Luke Huth and Oryn Keeley to fill those deals up with Chris Vea'ila already signed to a development deal next season. Looking to promote all 3 in 2024 with Huth coming in for Randall, Keeley coming in for either Fitzgibbon, Johns or Jones and Vea'ila coming in for Hunt or Tuala.
i like that idea as we would be getting rid of players who have proven they aren't good enough for first grade.

It would also mean we have a plan in place to replace them, rather than making it up on the run and getting caught short like this season

Pretty sure you get up to 6 development spots but most teams only seem to use 3 or 4 of them. Think most of them will be going to the SG Ball/Jersey Flegg kids, highly doubt Huth will get one.

Madden off to Broncos 2 years

Tigers going to extend Brooks..

According to Toohey the Knights once again are going after Brooks and only Brooks if they sign him Clifford will be gone.

So basically our halves are this for 2023.

6. Gamble/Mann
7. Clifford/Clune

Unless we sign Brooks of course but not looking likely is it

Looking like Ponga may be in the halves
