2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Milf looking overweight at times for a professional rugby league player suggests to me he phoned it in for the Broncos.

We paid Pearce about double what he was worth and pretty much had to because game managing halves don't grow on trees.
I didn't think Milford was a game managing half before he arrived - I thought Clifford was our best option for that - but Milford looks like he can direct a team around the park.
So unless we can find someone better, he is our best shot.
We do have Michael Dobson coming in as our attacking coach next year. He was a sub par athlete, but a very good game manager in reserves for us and in a long ESL career. He might bring out the best in Milf, Clune and Clifford.

Well at least we wont be short in play makers, not so much a good directional half. But a **** tonne in playmakers (Milf, Ponga, Pryce) with Cliff and Clune duking out for no 7.

Lets be honest, if we had Brails this year I have no doubt we'd had done better. If Saifitis played to there potential, we'd had done better. EVEN with the current halves we have.

The whole team needs to perform at they're best. Until they do, no individual half is going to do it for us.

P.P.S - It's a massive NO on Brooks, we don't need another 5/8

I know the club has big wraps on this Liam Sutton kid in Flegg, but Jesus, he had a shocker yesterday. You don't often hear half the team yelling at the halfback "Sutto, just settle down mate". He tried to set up a try every time he got a touch, and it mostly ended badly. Just too excited.

Milf has been good for us here, paying him 500k per year is hardly overpaying.

With ball in hand at the line he looks like he has a clue. And his medium kicking game has been handy.

Ive got no issue signing milf, in fact im happy about it.

Milf at 6, Ponga at 7 could be very handy.

If the squad played like the games actually matter we could go well.

If Ponga moves to 7 what do you guys think of Tesi NIU at 1?
I haven't watched much of him but he is playing well today. He won't be getting much fullback time at the Broncos with Walsh there.

Another option that I think could be good is Garrick, no ball playing ability but if those were our halves we wouldn't need that. I think he has been good for Manly filling in when Tommy is out. He is pretty much the pollar opposite of Ponga, big and strong, runs the ball back well, covers plenty of meters, good defensively and looks to support well and has good hands for the tip ons. Also he can kick goals.

Horrible player. Should count his lucky stars if he is playing FG in a couple years time.

I'd be looking at Herbie now that Walsh is headed back to the donkeys

Move Kalyn into the halves
Well according to this,
Staggs was signed and promised a shot at 5/8
Farnworth promised a shot at fullback
Cobbo a shot at 5/8 or fullback
Surely one or 2 will want to leave if Walsh is fullback and Mam 5/8.

The second one says Cobbo could go to one and Walsh to 6 but that still leaves the others unhappy and Mam not in the 6.

Staggs is awesome at 5/8. Cobbo will play state of origin at fullback. He's played his whole career at fullback. Herbie would be ok at the back. Imo.

I haven’t seen staggs play well from half. I’m assuming Cobbos junior career from fullback was just running over the top of players. But I haven’t seen to comment.
