2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

Knights are offering Jack Hethrington over $1mil for 3 years.
"Knights officials believe Hetherington, properly harnessed, can be a Victor Radley-type enforcer capable of intimidating the opposition while inspiring his teammates."
-Gps tracking shows he is the fastest forward in the comp.

They make a good case that he is a diamond in the rough who could become a valuable asset if managed properly.
They also point out he spent some of his childhood in Lake Macquarie and his wife is a local, so he shouldn't have a problem settling.
400k a year seems a bit much.

If you’re confident the player is worth it then I have no problem with price. Nothing worse than low balling. I know Ramiens circumstances were different but as soon as players play above their value they get the sulks. 400k is fair if they get what they think they will.

If I was in charge of recruitment blokes that the worst team in the comp doesn't want isn't where I'd be looking.
Toohey said on twitter the other day its hard signing people given our recent form, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

If we have Hetherington and Elliott and Clifford is right then all we really need is a top 7 and little or no injuries next season to be competitive anything on top of that like an extra half if no Milford and a 2nd rower would be a bonus

And kind of hoping Friz and Fitz take up their POs otherwise we are right back to having no depth there.

333k p.a.

Doesn't seem too much. He could be good for us. The Dogs didn't have the pack to support his style. They need more leaders and less fire brands. We have a few leaders and need more fire brands, hence the hole being left by Barnett

Sounding like it's gonna be 750k or thereabouts for both Elliott and Hetherington. Given what is on the market I can't complain I guess. 2 year deals I could work with but doubt it will happen.

I think I remember reading somewhere that Fitz, John's and maybe Friz had mutual options for next year.
Is that different to Player Options?

Mutual option would mean both the club and players would have to agree to it. Player option means just the player decides if they take it up.
