Chris Vea'ila - A kiwi who came over as a 15 year old to play Mathews. He played fullback in Mathews and was one of our best in the 2019 team that took out the minor and major premierships. He was probably the tallest kid in the team and close to the heaviest as well. When they really needed a try, Jonah Pezet would find a way to get Chris one on one against a wing or centre and Chris would just barrel over them. He played his first game of reserve grade as a 17 year old and was matched up against some nuffie named Blake Ferguson. The Knights halfback put up what seemed a very foolish kick that came down perfectly between Vea'ila and Ferguson, setting up a fair aerial contest between the two. Vea'ila leaped over Ferguson, took the ball cleanly and came down with it 10 metres short of the line. Ferguson kept his feet and grabbed Vea'ila, but was easily shrugged off and Vea'ila scored the try.
In 2022 he was in and out all year. He played games of Ball, Flegg and reserves, but stress fractures in his leg meant he was out a lot and notat his best when he played.
Kobe Rugless - Joined us from the Roosters in 2022 a a potential hooker. He reminds me of a young Connor Watson with his effort and aggression but doesn't have the speed of Connor, but makes up for it with a good passing game. We used him mostly as a lock in Flegg and reserve grade in 2022.
Miles Martin - Joined us from Parra I think in 2022. Had a great Ball season. He played lock forward and scored multiple tries. He has a very rare skillset. He's as big as a Saifiti but can move and step like a back. Some of his tries in Ball were scored with power, but most were scored by stepping his way past the other middle forwards and running away to score. He is basically a mobile giant.
Tavita Toloi - came down from Qld to play Ball a few years ago. He was our best player in Ball and led the try scoring playing second row.
In 2022 he moved from second row to prop and was in and out of Flegg and reserve grade. I watched one game of Flegg where he came off the bench and I thought he was our best forward. At the end of the season he made the Fiji WC squad and put in a good effort off the bench in his 1 game. I read an interview with him where he said he was determined to make NRL and super proud to play for Fiji. He was back for the first week of training with the Knights 10 days after playing for Fiji in England.
All 4 could play Flegg in 2023, but will most likely play reserves.
