2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

If he comes cheap I think tuapau would be a great pick up he would add 2nd phase play to our game he would be a good impact player off the bench think a new team would be good for him give him a year with a option in club favour

Yep, would give the opposition heaps of 2nd phase after their set when he hands the ball back to them! He doesn't have the same impact as he used to so his offloads are not as effective imo.

Wasn't klemmer here like a few weeks ago? Surely we could have just bloody kept him and got Jacko here......
But paying klem 800 or pay taupau 200

He only had 10 errors for the year

I honestly think Hetherington will play in the middle and be pushing the Safs for a starting spot. How many game has he even played on an edge?
Good competition is what we need.
By all reports Hetherington is a great trainer and extremely fit for a forward.

Agree that we still need more depth at prop and 2nd row. I'd be playing Fitz at prop off the bench or in reserves and be signing a 2nd rower or being going hard to get KPP early.

I reckon if the Nathan Brown thing is a thing, AOB will look deep within his conservative little heart and start him at lock, shifting Elliott to the left edge. I'd say that's why we went hard for Elliott, very much a swiss army knife forward, though lock is his best spot.
Then he'd have his favoured configuration of 80 minute guys at 9, 11 and 12, and can use all his subs on rotating D Saf, J Saf, Brown, Hetho and Mann, with Leo/Crokes/Fitz/Jones fighting for the (very small amount of) remaining minutes.
The Mann as a starting lock thing is over for mine but he'll still come on for a pretty decent stint I reckon.

Is there talk of us signing Nathan Brown?
If so I'd play him at prop with Parra paying part of his freight.
Elliott is by far our best option at 13.

I think we’re better off biding our time then going after any of the on the market options rn. It’s not just about this year we have to be looking to get into top 4 in 24-25. Signing sign a tapau now won’t change anything for us

I think it would because your not throwing your young guys in for big minutes let them progress the right way not thrown in the deep end I'm not for signing him to big money multi year contract give 1 and maybe a option for a 2nd depending on how the young guys progress

For good reason. Taupau is a pillow these days and he is good for a brain explosion. If he had some leadership qualities then he would be worth a minimum contract but he comes across a bit of a wank on the field. Probably explains why no club is looking to sign him.
I'm with LOTS on this one.
I can still see us utilising tapau for the missing SS middle role. Manly's in-house shizen may have fertilised those explosions & wanks.
