2023 Recruitment & Retention Thread

the sensible thing is to go nowhere near Hasler. He has destroyed every club he has been at.

I agree we need to get rid of O'Brien now, not mid next season because it'll just be a waste of another year. O'Brien has had his chance and proven he isn't up to the job
Fair call but he has won 2 premierships this century. Not many coaches can say that.
He's definitely worth having as a contingency plan, options are always nice to have...

What I find hilarious about the Manly situation Is they have replaced one nut with another In the form of Anthony Siebold.

You couldn't make this stuff up If you tried. 🤣🤣🤣

Hey all

Rumours over in Hull is that we've all but signed Clifford to link up with Tex Hoy for next season.

Anyone heard anything?

How do you think he'd go over here?

Thanks!
The reason he hasn't worked out in Newcastle is pretty unclear still, but it was due to personal issues, not a lack of talent as a footballer.

He deserves a clean start and if he just gets to play football, he's probably too good for ESL to be honest.

I have thought about it a lot because I was putting him on the pedestal as my favourite knights player considering what he showed the first few rounds.
His confidence fell off not long after (I was going to say off a cliff but refrained) I feel like that was from something external not to do with the team, but if Payten can’t get anything out of him then AOB didn’t have a chance.
If he does go I hope he does well I do see something in him you’d just need the right person pushing him.

I totally agree with this. Haslers record over the 7 or so years is pretty bad. He's had a pass cos of Turbos injuries. I can't really understand why there's so much love for him on here.... But I spose anything is an upgrade on AOB.

He's made the finals 14 out of 18 times.
He's had teams in 6 grandfinals.
He's won 2 grandfinals.

He could dress up as Ronald McDonald and do all his press conferences in bantu clicking language if he could win us 2 titles and get us into 80% of finals series. and a third of grandfinals.

Just watched 2022 Rd12 Knights v Warriors 30 mins highlights, we won.
Clifford played 7 and was good, laid on try for Frizell with nice kick, tackled well and kicked 4/4, was very involved.
If he could play to that standard each week he would be an asset and worth keeping. Unfortunately his good games were infrequent for reasons still not quite clear

After Warriors it just means nothing...
