Hastings may not be the most dynamic player but I dread to think where we would be without him at the moment.

He hasn't been as good as last year but without him we'd be screwed in the halves.
I think there’s truth to it, while also agreeing we’d be pretty lost without him. But I just wish he’d channel that pointless niggle energy into something more beneficial and productive for us. We’ve all seen players like Victor Radley who just lose their head and become a liability because they can’t control themselves, and the things I see on the field make me think Hastings could go the same way.

On top of being dumb he’s an agendas ****head too, the Jacko take comes hot on the heels of him saying the Titans were dudded by that last try being overturned & it’s proof we need a Bunker overhaul (it’s a clear knock on, you will never get a better example of the Bunker working exactly as intended), and that Kotoni Staggs is a better player than Bradman. Don’t be surprised if next week he’s saying that that Joey Johns guy was never that good at footy and Jennifer Hawkins isn’t even good looking.

Another thing on the topic of try assists…
Don’t they only award try assists to the person who handled the ball last before the try scorer? Example being the centre gets the try assist for batting the ball onto the winger who scores even though the guy before that ran 70metres to set it up?
It’s a non argument. Fact is Hastings and half the team have been involved in setting up most tries but they don’t get counted as they didn’t get to be second last touch.

a) the dudes not wrong, Hasting is absolutely not a good enough player to carry on the way he does. Giving away a penalty in possession is unforgivable, let alone on the attacking 10m line, let alone getting yourself sent to the bin!
b) our halves in general have not been great, as a rule we're not scoring out of good structure. Look at the phins game:
First try: Leo short ball to JSaf inside our half, Armstrong backing up.
Second try: Armstrong individual effort to beat ordinary titans defence.
Third try: Lucas linebreak from footwork inside our half, armstrong backing up.
Fourth Try: Titans dropped ball on their goal line.
Fifth Try: No dummy half so Elliott of all people forced to kick, penalty try.

Also thought it was ridiculous that penalty went against us. Schoupp had 3 or 4 little digs at Hastings well after the tackle was completed. He definitely should not have reacted the way he did but the NRL would be a very boring game if that was how most tackles went.
I think it's the fact he did the same thing a few plays before and was clearly losing the plot. Gagai was there trying to calm him down after it too, before he got sinbinned.
