Everyone didn’t do their job against raiders. Cogs included. I’d be surprised if Hastings doesn’t get the attack straightened up. He biggest let down, more because of his injury is his kicking game, definitely lacks a big boot. Cogs has him there I think.Hastings can't be fully fit after the off season he had, but the other two are.
Hastings should be fitter this week though, after a full game and 11 days to do extra training.
There is another article on Gamble in the Herald today (Robert Dillion article) that says he is giving himself 6 weeks to show what he is worth before he starts contract negotiations, so it would be hard to drop him.
Toohey doesn't say it's about fitness. He says that Cogger's main strength is straightening the attack, which helps Ponga do his thing and that was sadly lacking in round one, so Hastings and Gamble need to up their game to keep their spots.
I think hasting/Gamble deserve a good 6 weeks together to get the team rolling and they deserve that after last year.
It’s a tough 6 weeks though against good teams, so if they can get some results, which they obviously have too then that’s peachy.
Hand will be forced eventually next week with Brails back. I think Brails is straight into the 17 at 14 most likely. A straight swap for Crossy. None of this pushing him to 13.
