Not sure everyone is happy with it, but that’s their contract, you can’t blame them for accepting an offer that was good for them.Imagine letting Frizell go and then JSaf gets injured
Meanwhile everyone's all happy that McCarthy and Schiller are soaking up 500k to play Cup
Clubs are commercial entities, but players aren't? And I thought Pauline/Gina hated Australian workers.Sticking to your contract is your right as a player. And its also pretty hard to blame a young guy for clinging on for dear life. But if the club has asked you to leave because your contract is not in the best interests of the club, you can choose to stay, but your presence is thereafter counter productive to the competitive aims of the club.
I thought I was on reddit for a second.And I thought Pauline/Gina hated Australian workers.
Pretty sure it was Adam Doyle or Clint Zammit who gave Schiller and McCarthy their current deals.Schiller/McCarthy/whoever well within their rights to stick around if they want, any blame should be directed at those who signed them. Player option for McCarthy why?
Friz also completely justified in trying to get what he thinks what he's worth, if that's somewhere else I'll be disappointed.
The Niukore signing is puzzling, he's looked terrible this season. Friz far and away stronger.
Players aren't charities either, to be fair. Let's hope that in deciding to stay, it lights a fire for them and they prove the club wrong, justifying their spot in the team.The club isnt a charity. Its a competitive sporting organisation that exists to win, its primary objective, to which everything else subordinates, is to win. It doesnt exist to provide employment to its staff.

So much so that we may now lose Frizell for next year.
The Knights have sucked for 20 years. We are building something delicate and fleeting. While players are legally entitled to put themselves before the club, its also unreasonable to expect those players to be blameless for the consequences of their self interest
Clubs and players may both be fairly described as 'commercial entities'Clubs are commercial entities, but players aren't? And I thought Pauline/Gina hated Australian workers.
Such a bad take, and it doesn't even make sense... What are players expected to do, step aside to unemployment because the club (you) would prefer to keep Friz...a veteran bench player who could be a help next season, but also could be blocking a younger player with a longer-term future....solid reasoning...lol.
OK then, by that token, the next time a player wants out because some manager, probably named Moses, has found him a higher-paying deal elsewhere, that should be OK too, right?
PS. Nothing wrong with mutually agreed releases/trades, but being down on Schiller because he didn't like the Dragons' offer or possibly didn't want to play for Flanagan seems a tad unfair.
Useless ****s **** off and play Cup elsewhere.
That de-escalated quickly.Life goes on.
What are people expecting from Niukore?
So basically, the club wants him to stay - he wants to stay - everyone knows he is worth a lot more than 150k - the only solution seems to be to find a new club for one of our fringe players. Schiller and McCarthy are only mentioned as guys who have been told they are free to go if they get a better deal - but I suspect we would release a few others if it came to keeping them or Frizz."I've been pretty loyal and hopefully I'm not disrespected by the way it's handled," he told us. "I've spoken to the coach and I'll keep doing my best for the team and hopefully it can work itself out."
Matty Arthur would be another one to move on, who I thought would be asy enough to do so, but him being injured of late has probably made that difficult.![]()

To bring the Frizzel discussion back to where it should be;
Toohey points out the club haven't been in a position to make him an offer, because the only top 30 spot they have is a minimum wage 150k spot, and Frizz is worth a lot more than that.
The quote from Frizz in the article (for those who can't read it) is;

My feeling is Frizz will stay and we'll lose a fringe player, and I hope it isn't a young one.
Matt Arthur would be a good choice - he is good enough to get an ESL or even an NRL spot, and with Graham and Hagan and even Jacob Davis going past him, we certainly wouldn't miss him.Matty Arthur would be another one to move on, who I thought would be asy enough to do so, but him being injured of late has probably made that difficult.
maybe we're holding out that 150k for Moses Leota & balking at offering it to Friz.![]()
