The Tinkler thread

I don't think he sold it?? But he's going to be so much richer without the burden of Patinack bleeding him dry if he does sell it. Great move by Tinkler.

Sounds like he has given Gerry Harvey some of the Jewells from his racing business in exchange for the cash he needs at the moment.

Absolute bargain if 30 million got All Too Hard and the Stud. All Too Hard will be worth that himself if he can win a Group 1 in the Northern Hemisphere. If I had known Tinkler only wanted 30 mill I would have been interested.

The owner of the stallion don't own the foals unless of course it's their broodmare. The big money is made by charging a service fee. A Group 1 winning stallion that is a half brother to the World's best sprinter would command a huge fee at stud and unlike humans they never get a headache.

This article claims Tinks will be asked by Nick Dan tomorrow to walk away from the club.

I don't think this is even an option for Tinks. He would be basically declaring himself bankrupt, because the bank guarentee only comes into play if he can't pay, not if he decides he doesn't want to. The only other way it could work is if the Knights and Tinks negotiate a price for him walking - say he chips in enough to see us debt free and we get to sell all the sponsership again.

The best coach in the world has come out and said they are being paid and it isnt affecting the players at all , so the last thing we should do is ask him to walk and make things worse and then have to try to find enough sponsorship to pay the bills.
This is wrong in my opinion its a media beat up that some people believe if he goes broke then let him go but untill he is worth nothing and he says it or it can be proven leave him alone ....

The biggest failure Tinks has had at the club is that he can't sell sponsership because big companies don't want to hand money to him.

Our major sponsers are a qld rail company that hauls Tinklers coal and owes him a favour, and a Tinkler owned $2 shelf company he set up to build a coal loader in Newcastle, that is now dead in the water.

Basically, Tinks is mostly funding us out of his own pocket (sponsership wise), because big companies don't want to be associated with him in case he goes belly up.

I think Dan might be able to make a good casr to Tinks that he will be better off and the Knights will be better off if Tinks walks away, but to make that case he will need to have big sponsers ready to jump in.

Nathan Tinkler will hand over his NRL licence tomorrow & all control to the Knights members club board. On nrl gossip....

Steve Burraston? Can't wait... Down the drain we go...

Well it was fun while it lasted.
We will be debt free and probably hit Tinks up for a healthy bank balance as well.
We will be very attractive to sponsers who will want to be seen as the guys who saved the team.
We have a very marketable coach and team.
We have more members and a whole new grandstand from the last time Burro was here.

Last time he was in charge he had to fight for every penny. This time he has double the budget, twice the staff etc etc.

I expect he will cut some waste, but he will keep most of the football budget unchanged I imagine.

Overall, what is the feeling in Newie about all this?

I hear very little down here, and am just interested on how the average joe feels.

We don't know what is going to happen.
Tinks could be going to the meeting to tell Dan to stuff himself.
But whatever happens, getting it sorted tomorrow would be a great result.

Approaching Burraston and Tew to return though, it's like were stepping backwards... if the club does go back to the club members who still seem to be living in the 19th century of how things operate.

At least current management are always moving forward (with the exception of Tinklers cash flow issues)

So yes, we will gain the 20 mil and gain major sponsors, but we will be back to the same system who screwed us in the first place.
