12 Barnett
13 Glasby

14 Mann
15 Herman
16 Gavet
17 King

18 Lino
19 Saulo
20 Buhrer
21 Ramien

Id put Ramien in and drop Garvet for Sione spot on the bench.

Garvet has really showed nothing other rhen the ability to to have a cup of tea in the ruck.
Yep i think King is worth more in the 17 atm. WOW

I agree.
And i really dislike how he lays all over the ruck, its very Melbourne like. I'm not looking forward to the game where the ref penalises him 20 times.
He also did a couple of dog shots on the weekend that I don't think have a place in the NRL.
This is all my opinion btw.

I think King has been massively improved this year. Brown is obviously a fan of his and has been very patient with him. Happy to see him play a role in the side.

I also agree that Gavet is frustrating to watch, I can't understand how he gets away with what he does in the ruck sometimes, but that's also exactly why Brown wants him.

I can see merit in both of their selections. I'm just glad that we have enough depth to even debate the merits of who makes our best 17.

I agree,
I feel his only real attributes are lazy D in the ruck and dirty tactics.

Hasn't cost us a great deal "yet" but I'd rather have a clean hard head over a grub with no real impact.

Really? I thought everyone hated Manly!

Where is you Tas when I need youse?
Manly and Broncos for me, never really cared much about the Doggies to be honest just thought ill look in their forum to hear what their thoughts on the two teams coming into the round only to hear all that lol

Seen and heard a few comments about how did Gavet get away with coming in hard with the shoulder in a tackle. He missed that's why. I like the fact he's got a bit of grub about him. We've been pussies for too long.
Totally agree. Mongrel is what weve been longing for for so long! He intimidates which I'm sure Brownie likes.

Spoke to a Warriors player after the game at Mt Smart and he said Jimmy has always been a bit of an enforcer and has opposition players looking out for him when he plays.

I have no issue with Garvet being a enforcer, i dont like his laziness around the ruck at all.
I dont like cheap or dog shots either, if its a eye for a eye thing?then yep all for it, outside of that I'd rather someone that belts people front on like a Sam Burgess and be respected and feared for it.
Being a "Adam Blair" type isnt a enforcer, its a weak player that enjoys the cheap shots to hurt people.

The traditional rivalries are the best, there was nothing more satisfying in the 80's and 90's than getting up over Manly and Brisbane.

Hatred of other teams comes and goes, mainly due to a handful of players in the team (Melbourne and Cronulla particularly).

If that’s a shoulder charge there is probably 4-5 of them a game that don’t get called lol

Gavet was up against his old side too, and it looked to me that they were enjoying it as much as he was!

I think he's been really good the last couple of weeks, come up with some big plays when required.

This feels like a danger game to me ... I don't know how many times we've won three in a row the last 12 or so years, but it wouldn't be often. An expected win against the Bulldogs makes it all the more scary.

I agree it's cringey when he's laying all over the player on the ground, he's just asking for a penalty, but in contact I think he just wants to hurt people. I can't recall seeing anything particularly dog shot by him. That crusher like tackle on the weekend is a split second impact where he's coming in with full force to wack a player. Doubt he was trying to hurt a guy's neck, he just wants to make an impact. If we're talking about dog shots & grubbiness, your favourite player Tariq Sims loved it, always intentionally stepping on people's hands with his studs after a tackle as he got back up to marker.

Gavet can be good but has a very lazy streak in him and is far from a starting prop. We won the first 4 a few years back. Went on then to get the dreaded spoon. Just hope we go on and win a few in a row. We need to keep our points ticking over.

Is this Christmas that smokey eyes is here! Howdy James!

Something we've lacked for a long time and was lamented by a lot of supporters was a pack of enforcers who had that mongrel in them.

I agree that there's no place in the game for anyone who goes out to injure an opponent with unsportsmanlike or dangerous conduct, crusher tackles and chicken-wings for example.

However, there's absolutely nothing wrong putting on a legitimate big shot in either attack or defense. Striking fear into the opposition is part of the mind games which the successful teams do well. Wrestling and slowing down the play-the-balls aren't the most attractive ploys, but done well can go a long way to giving your team an advantage.

Ultimately, players with the tendency for niggle in the ruck like Gavet can be a real asset, provided it's kept in check. However, it's vital that this isn't the only thing they bring to the table. I'm all for our guys hitting hard and trying to unsettle the other team, but in an acceptable manner.

With the lack of penalties this year Gavet is going to get away with it in the ruck more often than not.

Refs will probably pick on him when it's time to even up the penalty count though.

It's like we've forgotten what it's like to have tough uncompromising players in our side.

The 1997 forward pack would have their heads in their hands reading people complaining about Gavet being too rough haha. Remember Harragon in the Grand Final that year going out and wrecking havoc, giving away as many penalties as needed to assert dominance.

Gavet and King are different types, I don’t care which one plays as long as one is dropped to bring Ramien in for Sione to bench. Bench seems better with 2 middles a 2nd row and a utility.
