It's like we've forgotten what it's like to have tough uncompromising players in our side.

The 1997 forward pack would have their heads in their hands reading people complaining about Gavet being too rough haha. Remember Harragon in the Grand Final that year going out and wrecking havoc, giving away as many penalties as needed to assert dominance.

I'm all for aggression, as long as it is within the rules and is controlled. The way Gavet plays, it always looks like he's not far from a penalty or a suspension. If he can pick his moments then it gives us a bit of intimidation in the pack along with Klemmer, Herman and Barnett (for example).

fitzy said on radio they fly up friday
Ponga was in Coolum Beach Sunshine Coast yesterday where I work. Was trying to see if I could see him but he's a slippery bigger. I think he went straight to Brisbane for some magic round promo stuff for FOX

Gavet and King are different types, I don’t care which one plays as long as one is dropped to bring Ramien in for Sione to bench. Bench seems better with 2 middles a 2nd row and a utility.

I'll ask would another prop in the middle more to our pack than Sione? Legit to what people think.

We all know Sione's in regardless though.

I agree it's cringey when he's laying all over the player on the ground, he's just asking for a penalty, but in contact I think he just wants to hurt people. I can't recall seeing anything particularly dog shot by him. That crusher like tackle on the weekend is a split second impact where he's coming in with full force to wack a player. Doubt he was trying to hurt a guy's neck, he just wants to make an impact. If we're talking about dog shots & grubbiness, your favourite player Tariq Sims loved it, always intentionally stepping on people's hands with his studs after a tackle as he got back up to marker.

Stepping on a players hand, pushing your elbow into a players shoulder/chest,
Pulling fingers back etc etc are all part of the little niggles that happens 100 times a game.

Its just my view of Garvet ATM.
I think his not providing the required effort and attitude of a old head prop thats going to help our younger guys become better players.

Maybe im wrong, though his already gone from starting to bench and the minutes are getting less for him.

I want to see more of Sione coming off the bench and going to lock, i think it could be the best fit for him in the future.
Loves to rush up in D, so would lead our line from the middle,
Has a strong build and agility to be a big threat running tight lines behind the ruck splitting the D line.

I'd feel much more confident in Sione playing in the middle than on the edge. More space for aggression and less for decision making. I see him as being our budget, utility version of Taumalolo. Also would do well handling Barnett's minutes on the edge as I only see him as being capable of 60 minutes at present.

i like the idea of sione off the bench playing guerras minutes when glasby comes off. but id still rather sione or even buhrer at 2nd row over barnett. barney is a bench middle forward if he has to be in the 17

I reckon you're right in that defensively Sione is better suited to the middle, the only question is how many minutes we can expect to (safely) get out of him every week. He's a smaller guy, albeit talented and hard-working, but does he have the endurance needed to succeed in that role?

I hope he does as it only strengthens the team, but I also think there's better options to slot in at lock (Herman and Barnett for mine).

Hearing Lewis, Holland and Martin all dropped this week for the Dogs. Helps our chances with their main man and goal kicker gone. Still need to play on the day we all know teams on paper mean nothing, its results on the field that count.

Coming off the bench, I'd expect him to play maybe 30 to 35 minutes.
Coming on 15 before half time.

Victor Radley seems to be doing ok at lock atm.

Brandon Smith is exactly what id hope to see from Sione at lock.
Tough hard running up the middle with quick leg speed and nugget build.

From Fox Sports

Dean Pay has axed Lachlan Lewis, Kerrod Holland, and Rhyse Martin from the side. Kieran Foran will return at halfback, while all the reserves are likely to be called into the team.

Corey Harawira-Naera is expected to miss the game due to a family illness, with Adam Elliott to start on the field.

Jesse Ramien will be allowed to make the call himself on whether he’s fit enough to line up at centre against the Bulldogs.

“At the end of the day, players generally rule themselves unfit. Doctors guide them a little bit. If Jesse is to be fit, he’s got to feel confident,” Knights coach Nathan Brown said.

If Ramien decides he can play, Sione Mata’utia will be pushed to the forwards rotation and Josh King is the likely man to drop out.

Kieran Foran is expected to sit out again as he battles to return from an ankle injury.

So Ramien's shoulder was only a minor strain he'll be right no doubt next week. Thursday he'll be there. Come Sunday not playing. He was never going to be right. This week he was almost right last week he'll definitley be right this week. Not named in team. We're working on him. If he's not right Sione will be center. We'll leave the call up to Ramien. Do me favour. If ever you find me wounded don't call the Knights staff.
