PRE-SEASON CHALLENGE R2 - KNIGHTS V STORM - 1.45 Sat 24th - Churchill Park, Fiji

Disagree. Should be consequences for foul play in any game. If Tui came flying in with a coathanger on Ponga, I'd expect a send off, not just an interchange because it's a trial.
See i guess i just see it differently, teams are trying to get cohesion in squads. The last thing they need is to struggle with 12 when the game doesn't count for the premiership. I just think it shouldnt happen to utilise the full trial match to each teams fullest. playing with 12 doesnt help

Training for discipline should also be a feature in the trials. And the players still like a bit of niggle irrespective of nothing being at stake. It would be carnage if the rules were not applied correctly. Would never work.

What I take away from todays trial.

We looked lethargic, slow and clunky...

Storm handled the weather conditions much better and played with more purpose.

We got a better indicator of where some of the fringe players are at (no one really put their hand up).

Tuala wrapped up the right wing spot.

Positives:
- Don't think there were any significant injuries and shouldn't be any suspensions.

- The guys will be much better for that hit out in extreme heat (especially those playing their first trial)

- Cogger, KPP, Pryce and Cartwright all look like good pick ups

- Cant and Brodie Jones look like they've had good off seasons

- Solid depth in key positions

JSaf was put on report for the tackle that got him binned. Was only slightly late but looked like a clear shoulder charge.

KPP put on report for his kick contest but nothing about the contact seemed illegal beyond being in the air. Wouldn't be surprised if he starts the season in reserve grade anyway, there were some good signs in attack but could probably use a few weeks playing bigger minutes before getting thrown into first grade.

DSaf went off late with a knee injury that they said there wasn't too much concern around but you never know until it gets properly looked at. Even a minor strain could put him in doubt for 2 weeks.
