NRL Round 23 - Knights Vs Panthers - 6:00pm Friday 8th August - McDonald Jones Stadium

I dont even think they were that 'average' that year, it was just a year where they had almost zero luck, I used to make it to a lot of games back then and remember a bunch where they were easily the better team but managed to lose (in consolation, I was also at the game vs the dragons where Joey kicked the winning goal from the sideline after the siren, so, that made up for a lot of it lol). Then Joey getting injured late in the year essentially killed off their season, they still did well to fight their way into 7th place though, they could've just laid down and died but they didn't, I think the 'one man team' sledges were getting to them at that point.
Think we beat Dragons by 40 late that season after Joey was out?

It was a weird season, a lot of very memorable wins - a low scoring win over the 02 salary cap unbeatable Bulldogs early in the season, the Broncos win in the first game at the rebuilt Suncorp, Joey's sideline conversion to beat the Dragons, the 48-0 halftime lead over the Cowboys lol ...

But after years of being used to finishing in the top four, it left a bit of a bad taste in the mouth for me.

Yeah, first encounter a few days after origin 1, Knights defeated the Dragons 32-30 in Newcastle after fighting back from 18-6 down at halfime, late in the season the Knights without Joey destroyed them in their own barn 42-8 when the Dragons had to win to keep their finals hopes alive.
Overall it was very frustrating season yet still had several memorable wins, it mirrored 1999 in a lot of ways, which was also 2 seasons after a premiership year.

Pass behind Cogger who hangs a hand out and knocks on is a fitting way to end that game.

If Marzhew can run for 216m in a well-beaten NRL team, he'd dominate the ESL and wouldn't come under the same kick pressure. He might even get away with playing in the centres. #JustSayin

There was an even more extreme one of those for Penrith in a prelim a few years back, I think against Souths? From memory Yeo literally played the ball before he could have possibly been tackled and then Api strolled over from dummy half. The world’s first negative play the ball speed.

Yeah I remember that one. Refs are charged with keeping the game flowing they yelling at tacklers to get off as the player with the ball is about to hit the ground these days.

From what I saw of Arthur up to half time he is our best half option at the club. Good boot, didn't look shy to try things, that around the tackler pass that didn't connect was encouraging, shows he has a good head for thinking on the run, creating ad lib.

Just off that half alone I'm putting him well in front of the grand final straightener.
