NRL General Recruitment and Retention

Genuinely believe Smith is currently a better 7, and has a higher ceiling if he can become more physical.

Wishart will give you a 8/10 at best from 7 but most weeks it'll be a 6.5-7/10. Wishart isnt a 7 imo

Smith will give us a 7-8/10 most weeks
Wishart dummies and goes about 3/4 times he touches the ball. Our edges would be screaming for the ball. He’s a good five eight, with a big boot.

The reason Bellyache picks Wishart over Pezet a fair bit when Munster or Hughes is out is because Wishart defends a lot better. Craig will always prioritise this. He doesn’t move the ball to the edges effectively with great consistency though.

Id love to have someone with wisharts versatility and willingness to play wherever he is told in our squad. Could become a poor man’s Kurt Gidley which I’d take every day of the week.

If reports are true about him being tired of being a bench player well than we could offer the 9 with Arthur/Graham on the bench.

So out of the gate we can offer a starting spot, shift Smith to his actual 7 position, Brown to 6 and Sharpe to wing/centre. I’d certainly be entertaining it because instantly our spine becomes top 8 quality easily, Wishart is not a great Hooker but he is better than Crossland and will allow Crossy to go to 13 permanently.

The club should 100% be looking at it as a option

1. Ponga
6. Brown
7. Smith
9. Wishart
13. Crossland

That's a top 6 spine. Wishart offering some guise through the middle, as well as a running game, genuinely transforms the look of the spine
Love that spine.
How much did we get Smith for? Was it around $500k?
Id value Wishart similar to Smith, if we could get Wish for similar that's pretty good imo.

Marzhew was resigned when he had his best season in 2023, what would he be on?
Imagine if we could trade Marz for Wish!
Bellemy would get the best out of Marzhew.

That’s the type of deal you would only do if you have a gun half coming through and you need a stopgap for a year
