Mark Hughes
Guru will be happy to see his mate back this week.
The club and AOB do this as well. It’s so patronising. Particularly so when it’s coming from of the biggest slack-jawed yokels in the NRL, AOB.Haha I made the same mistake.
My favourite part is them insinuating that everyone in Newcastle is blue collar and broke. Also only mentioning the missing middles we have so they can say how bad we’re gonna lose this week.
I think AOB’s default when questioned or under pressure is to take an us vs them approach and shield the players. The club and AOB do this as well. It’s so patronising. Particularly so when it’s coming from of the biggest slack-jawed yokels in the NRL, AOB.
That was great. So many great stories. Really glad that we’ve got someone like Hughes associated with our club the bloke is a genuine inspiration.Face to Face with Mark Hughes on Fox atm.
Pretty good watch.
Need to go back and watch more games from this era.
That’s amazing! I randomly watched the final ten minutes of the 1997 Grand Final the other week, it certainly was a magical time!Face to Face with Hughsie was great last night. As someone who grew up in Kurri (Pelaw Main actually but no-one know's where that is) it was good to see the footage from the Grand Finals and even had footage from back at the Workers club. Hard to believe it was that long ago. Last night my niece who was the Kurrl Bulldogs mascot was shown being nursed with her mum back at the workers club celebration. She's a grown woman now with her own 2 children much older than she was then. Time fly's. I think Yvonne Sampson enjoyed doing that interview. Lot's of laugh's. Hope it's available on Youtube. My best mate, who was Hughsie's junior coach all through Kurri juniors didn't have Foxtel to watch it.
Wife has a cousin living in Palaw Main, visit from time to time, none of that do do with Mark Hughes but his interview was excellent, I walk early, 6.30am and with cold weather I am wearing the Mark Hughes Foundation beanie and ready to buy another when sales begin, very worthwhile cause.Face to Face with Hughsie was great last night. Listened to this the other day and thought it was brilliant.Another Mark Hughes appearance here:
That would be great … and the fact so many of them from that era have remained mates and in contact so often is so cool! I can imagine their hang outs are just hilarious with stories from the old days.Listened to this the other day and thought it was brilliant.
Love hearing about the comraderie and how close they were and are today. Can you imagine him and Albert walking into work a few days later.
I may be a little uncultured in terms of journalism, but i do enjoy the way Matty interviews people on the podcast.
He released one with Connor Watson this week, who made a few comments about Kalyn not having much going on between the ears, in a kind/endearing way.
I’m really looking forward to 2027. Hopefully a retro jersey and a lot of podcast/interviews about ‘97.
Would love to see Matty (or anybody) do a little series and have a bunch of the players over the year. Would be nice to see where they are at now.
Just finished both parts.Just got through Part 1 of the Marty Johns podcast with Kurt Gidley.
Interesting listen so far!
