I met this halfwit drunk one time. He used to mix up the two sayings, (often I might add) “red as a beetroot” and “shaking like a leaf” and used to say, “he was shaking like a beetroot”

But yeah, Laurie isn’t bad at saying silly things. I remember when he first retired from football and he tried his hand at the sideline commentary and it was abysmal. He went away for a while and came back and was a lot better, though still bad. I’d say he had some media coaching.

Had a listen also, could definitely feel a sense of calm and feeling comfortable in his own skin. Seems like he's all in for this coming season.
 
Saw on the news tonight that he’ll be available for Origin selection next year. Not surprising but I hope for our sake they don’t pick him.

If he’s fit he will be in the 17 I’d say. If he plays the same as he has been I think he regains the 1 Jersey back. Scary thought for NSW.

He deserves the 1 for QLD if it was picked today. I understand why he wasn't picked earlier in the year. Hopefully he continues his form and gets picked.
If he doesn't get picked it means he isn't playing that well for us.
 
At bare minimum they'll play him off the bench. He's the best player in their team, always calves up at Origin. Unfortunately there's no chance they don't pick him
 
I spoke with Kalyn for 10 mins or so at Channel Nine’s offices a couple of weeks back. Super chilled and polite guy.

Reckons Tuala will be on right wing (proven try scorer and safe pair of hands he said). English boys have settled in really well. They’re loving Newcastle and are ramping up the fitness hard. Said Dom would’ve stayed if negotiations were around the time of our winning streak. I told him Dom will regret it when the Knights are Premiers in 25.

Kaylyn said there’s a lot of focus on round 1 already and they’re expecting a fired up Raiders side looking for some revenge for the beatings the Knights gave them at the end of the season.

He also asked me why I was in Nine’s offices and gave me some business advice which was pretty funny.

You know what, the real ones stick around when times are tough and get through the other side. It says a bit about Dom that once things started going well he wished he stayed.

And since this is a Ponga thread, I have to say he is doing exactly that, turning this club around, and it’s pretty impressive that he’s stuck solid all this time, when it would have been very easy to leave for a more competitive club.
