Sau twice the player Idris is?

Sometimes I wonder why I even visit this forum. :brickwall:

I hate using statistics to prove a point because they never tell the whole story and I think the eye ball test is much better for those who actually know football and know what to look for, but I'm questioning that being the case here, so lets use statistics in this instance.

For all the talk about Sau being better and actually being able to defend and Idris not being able to defend to save his life, Sau averaged 7.5 tackles a game with 1.5 missed. Idris averaged 13 tackles a game with 2.3 missed. So Sau missed 5% of his tackles while Idris missed about 5.5% of his tackles. Considering Idris averaged nearly double the amount of tackles as Sau, statistically, they're pretty much on par.

So either Sau's a woeful defender and can't defend to save his life either, or people are making up and/or exaggerating Idris' deficiencies because they flat out don't like the guy. Or maybe people just don't know what the hell they're watching on the football field? It's gotta be one of the three. I'm thinking it's the latter two.

(.)(.), does that include his games in the second row?

P.S. what stat site are you using? as the one I use to use isnt working.

Idris is reminiscient of meninga at that age...... He was erratic and a little in defence but when hecwent to canberra he matured into one of the best ever....

Might be an idea to give idris a little room.

Sau is no great defensive centre, I've seen him miss some shockers!?

Why do you think he didn't play the Four Nations final?

I've always been in the wanting Idris camp ... he's a future superstar for sure.

You can not compare Sau and Idris, they are completely different players imo. Sau is one dimensial and plays a power game were Idris has a passing game as well as a power game.Idris also has very good footwork. Idris is the more complete player expect in defense Sau is better then him but it really depends upon the backline Stone intends on playing next season,If he intends on resigning Sau has a power running center then Idris can play a similar role to Mad Dog does now but if he intends on playing Idris as a power running center then there is no room for Sau.Its not about just who is the better player but which player fits better into the team structure.

I just dont understand why so many people dont like Idris?
I'd love to have him at the club, as i have said before he is one of my favourite players outside the knights.

Idris is one of those 'larger than life' characters, as much as I don't want to compare him to Willy, they have the same following, you either love him, or hate him.

I think he would be a massive asset to the knights profile (not team....profile) I am a huge Junior fan and would hate to see him leave, but Idris would be a huge Ambassador for the knights both for the juniors, aboriginals (he has stated he wants to be a aboriginal youth worker when he finishes) and I can see him getting a 3rd party deal as a part of that so he won't take his whole contract into the salary cap, he's bound to get a couple of 3rd party deals as he is a sellable image to a company.

Lets just wait and see what happens, Sau might go and join the Eels as he is close to Kearney and Idris might say no....then what?

I'd love to have Idris at the club. On the big sports breakfast this morning it said that Idris had been talking to his mates about moving to Newcastle and that he was excited about it. Don't really know if that means anything but it's a good rumour in my mind.

I'd take Jamal over Junior any day. They have alot similiarities in the way they play such as being a bulldozer & they both have bad defence but Idris is bigger, heavier, meaner, scarier & harder to tackle.

At least if we sign Idris there will be no shortage for a big hits for a video next year. He puts on some massive shots.

dunno why uate is excited 4 idris because as if idris will be able to set him up like maddog does

1. Gidley
2. Uate
3. Idris
4. Sau
5. McManus

Cant we all just be friends? Likiliki is yet to prove himself and Doogs is retiring this year.

We can keep Sau and buy Jamal. Solved :p

Has he given any indication when he will make his mind up ?

Don't get your hopes up. His manager, Sam Ayoub has been arrested today with the whole betting scandal thing.
