Hi Everyone! (Introduce Yourself!)

hey everyone my names Dillon ive been on here for about a month but only found this thread not long ago, im 15 live in Rutherford suburb of maitland ive been supporting the knights since i was born i go to games as often as possible.
my favourite knights players would have to be kurt gidley, ben cross, zeb taia, aku uate, and the maddog ive met the entire team once before.

A long time Knights fan. from back in the day , a Kiwi who followed the Randwick Club in NZ (Sam Stewart) , well I have been to watch the Knights twice in Newcastle, but I will be in Brisbane for the Knights game V broncos, I will be on my Pat Malone . and would appreciate a pre match drink, give me the time the bar and you have got me...cheers

I'm on the Gold Coast and am thinking of heading up to the Broncos game with a couple of mates. Can't confirm our plans yet though

Thanks for having me guys, lifelong Knights fan, I landed here almost by accident (I followed a link from facebook) It's good to know that there are still passionate Knights supporters out there!
 
I thought i'd might aswell introduce myself.

I'm Nathan, I am 19 and come from the Central Coast. I have been a knights fan ever since I could remember. I grew up watching the likes of Andrew johns, Ben kennedy and Robbie o Davis. Came here again and again to get news on the team and last month I thought I'd join so i can have my say on things.
 
hey guys im brent, found this place when searching for something on google...? anyway ive been a long long time knights supporter, fondest memory was going to the 2001 grand final sitting amongst a heap of parra supporters in all my knights gear!! Used to live in country nsw so didnt get to the games much but moved to newi a few months ago and have been to the last 4 or 5 home games, will be a season ticket holder next year....
now my thoughts on the team...
Love junior sau favorite player, aku i think should be playing fullback and would kill it there, de gois is an awsome hooker for the next up to 10 years, i absolutely cannot stand the play of Keith Lulia and Scott Dureau (sorry if your a fan) but id love to see peter mata'utia get a start instead of lulia... mad dog should retire and love to see the knights bring matt gidley back, and i dont know why the knights are chasing another backrower... the talent we have is pretty good as is and kyle odonnell will be an absolute superstar imo! oh and id love to see housten back in knights colours ;)

Sau as a favourite player, interesting. Definately agree with you about Lulia, & bringing Matt Gids back. Mad Dog retiring bit you as NewyFan said you and JG will get along great..... :razz:
 
I don't think Ive introduced myself and considering Ive been on here for 2-3 years i thought i better pull my finger out.

Names Frosty, I'm a 20 year old born and bred novocastrin. I'm currently studying at Newcastle University and in my spare time (which i don't seem to have a lot of these days) I'm actually a martial arts instructor competing in competitions within our style.

My number one sport however will always be rugby league and i have followed the Knights for many many years. Considering the move to import talent rather then continued development of true locals such as the late 90's & early 2000's my attention in rugby league has turned to the competition as a whole rather then just focusing on the Knights.

Last year i felt the competition was in a really strong place with the sudden emergence of the popular sydney sides such as Parramatta and Canterbury however overall Ive found 2010 to be quite disapointing i think the quality of football across all 16 teams this season is well down on last season.

You can easily identify the teams which have well and truly underperformed this season such as the Cowboys, Eels and Bulldogs however except for the Dragons, the same inconsistencies can be found across all the sides. Optimistically I'm hoping with the re-emergence of the Melbourne Storm and grueling pre-seasons the quality of football will return in 2011.

In regards to the Knights, their biggest concern at the moment is thier inability to sign genuine stars so its now Rick Stone's job to help the medium class and inexperienced players step up in 2011. Its no easy job but he has to cement the nucleus of the side being the 1,6,7,9 and build he's side from there otherwise Newcastle will simply be making up the numbers again in 2011.

Sign Kurt Gidley & Akuila Uate until 2020 and ban Ben Rogers from even cutting the oranges at half time and this will go along way to helping Newcastle in the future.

Hey guys I'm Matt, recently turned 21, and I'm from Newcastle, lived here all my life. I am attempting to study Physio at Newcastle Uni, had a few setbacks but hopefully i'll be right to go next year. I also work as a learn to swim teacher/lifegueard/coach at the forum.
I got invited by someone on facebook a while back to join up to this, so I finally did.
Me and my old man, who played Jersey Flegg for the Knights in 1988, have been season ticket holders since 2008, sitting in the upper part of the Johns Stand, and have renewed for 2011.
Fondest memory of the Knights...watching the 97 and 01 grand finals on TV were big, but a really proud one wouldve been when we beat Melbourne at old boys day 2008, it was Bedsy's tribute game.

My thoughts on the team.....favourite players are Kurt, Mad dog and Uate. I wish Mad Dog could go on forever, great player, and awesome person too (I have met him). I do not rate ben rogers at all, Kaufusi i am not impressed with, and am not too happy at the moment on the signing of Steve Southern. I do think Joel Edwards is a great player of the future, as are Cook, Aliomai, Kev Naiqama and Tetevano. Likiliki is a super prospect as well. Costigan was a great off-season buy. Mullen could be great, he just needs to get consistent, but that will come if he gets a set halves partner and plays in either 6 or 7. Personally i'd love to see him play 6.

I honestly believe the squad we have is top 4 material. 2009 we should've finished right up there, but inexperience cost us 5 or 6 games. I think our squad is just as good from there, and after 2009 and a pretty rough 2010 pre-season, if we have a totally smooth 2011 pre-season, heres hoping my top 4 prediction can come true. Our biggest issue is our ruck defence - we let a lot of tries in up the middle. I thought Cross was a great player, but his ruck defence speed was awful, and with him now gone, I am hoping this will improve.

Also should probsbly add im the biggest Mike Hussey fan you will ever meet. The bloke is my hero, I've got a personally signed bat from him hanging up in my bedroom. Its the crown jewel of my sporting memorabilia collection :)
