Fletcher Sharpe discussion

Tom was the goal kicker and captain last time we made the GF in Flegg, so he scored a lot of points.
I'm surprised he doesn't kick goals now - plays 80 minutes and was an 80% + goalkicker
Doesn’t make him better looking 😂 Trent stalked was denan kemp before denan kemp was denan kemp 😂

A player poaching story about a guy who has a contract till the end of 2028… that’ll do me.

Local boy and country lad. If we’ve already looked after him alright with the deal he’s on now, he’ll play out his career here. I reckon it’s more likely we’d lose Kalyn than Fletcher, given the timeframe for when they’re coming off contract etc.

We literally extended him earlier this year because we knew other clubs would want to chase him. What’s Matty want us to do? Seems like another reason to whinge about Dylan Brown.
Anything for a story. Fox is just any remotely feasible click bait. The clickier and more bait the better!

No doubt that is what his management is telling him, bide your time, you will be the fullback there in a few seasons.

I wonder what happens if that doesn't pan out.

Management starts telling him hey, this club over here wants you for fullback....

Anyway, whatever happens, I hope it's for the best for Newcastle.

I’m guessing negotiations with start with him in 27. It’s good they were on to it and locked him down till 28. I have the feeling the next one will be a monster deal.

Money you can put in your pocket right now is worth a lot more than money you might earn 3 years from now.
If Sharpe is on a very low contract now, we can probably get him to extend for another couple of years by bumping up his present contract to give him enough to put a deposit on a nice house right now.
600k a year for the next 5 years would be a bargain for us, and he would be set for life, starting right now.

Wasn’t his contract 300k a year?
He extended to the end of 2028, like HVG I expected that would have come with a sizeable pay jump. Especially as it involved him moving into the halves. Would be pretty unheard of to extend him again six months later!

I think that’s only something we would do if it was combined with moving on Ponga. We wouldn’t want to risk Sharpe leaving if that was in the works.

This is what Johns was saying.

A contract is fine, until a player starts pushing for a release and then signs for more money elsewhere.

We don't have 3 years to think about upgrading him.

Other teams will be looking to destabilise him and poach him prior to that if he is only earnings 300k per year.
