Fletcher Sharpe discussion

He should come home by the Indian Pacific train.
I did it a few years ago and it's pretty comfortable, although the shower is pretty cramped and difficult to use while the train is in motion.
2 days and 3 nights from Perth to Sydney. Excellent food. comfortable beds, but sleeping in a rocking train isn't that easy.

On second thought - 4 hour flight in firstclass might be his best bet, after he has healed enough to fly - just keep him away from those Bears scouts.

I highly doubt careering ending. But sounds like the season 😭. So **** he is and I’m sure everyone favourite player. I guess we will no more conclusive in the coming weeks.

I've been googling previous NRL players who had this, Bryce Cartwright did back in 2015 and was actually told by his GP that he would never play contact sport again. Then he went back to the specialist who said it was fine! He did play with a kidney protector for a few weeks, but got rid of it due to comfort issues, so that might be something Sharpe has to use.

The symptoms for Cartwright sound worse than what we've heard from Sharpe too, he was fully urinating blood right after the game.

Shaun Fensom another who did it 2010, he played on for 30 minutes ... had he ruptured it further in that time it wold have been a forced retirement - apparently you're not allowed to play with only one kidney (or weren't back then anyway) ... the rationale being if you did it again to the other kidney you'd be dead.

He did it in first week of the finals and returned at the start of next season, though - and played on almost another decade. His was a three centimetre tear, which potentially sounds more similar to Sharpe's. Although he also came off the field when he urinated blood at halftime, so again possibly more serious.

Sharpe urinated blood, or Cartwright?

The story was he went for scans because of pain.
He would have gone a lot quicker if he was pissing blood.

No one knows the details of what is happening, but it sounds like internal bleeding from Kidney and Spleen damage - not a big enough tear in the kidney for blood in the urine and urine leakage to me.

We might find out how bad it was when he has some good news to share, but right now, not even his treating doctor would have a clear idea of what his prognosis is.

Has anyone heard how Sharpe is going with his recovery? Saw someone online say he could be looking at medical retirement. Hopefully it’s just BS but that would be just the Knights luck. Would be nice if club provided an update
