No but I would expect them to acknowledge that they have to work hard this week to fix up areas of their game so they are a chance of beating the Eels.

If the Eels end up smashing us, I would be questioning where all this “confidence” was coming from.
Lol you expect a weeks training to make a difference?

If you are not planning on success, you are planning on failure!

The Doncs got two gifted tries, first from an offside player and a knock on in the air, third from a very dodgy late tackle call to grant them the ball back so the field goal was the real difference. And we had five of our starting six forwards out and Ponga and Junior only played the first half without a lot of effort.

So I am with logical expecting a big improvement.

And just on the field goal, the play before had a forward pass that was worse than the dubious one they pulled up on Connor Watson at the other end only a couple of minutes earlier...just sayin'

Seibold sums up why he thinks the Knights finished in 7th - which he puts down to effort off the ball mostly. He gives several examples that mostly involve Brailey and Jones. Knights section starts on 14 minutes.

My favourite example of this came in the Titans game which sealed our spot in the finals. Go watch J Saf’s defensive efforts in the first few tackles of the set in the lead up to the Titans’ field goal attempt. Starting at about 3 minutes left after Ponga & Clifford fluffed their lines and surrendered the ball 30 metres out from the Titans’ line. J Saf makes the kinds of efforts most fans are not likely to notice, which will never show up on highlight reels, but I think he may have literally forced the Titans to take their shot from a good 20 metres further back than they otherwise would have.

I think stuff like this is why everyone at the club has insisted J Saf has been our best forward this year, and to me there’s been no clearer example of the difference between the O’Brien era and the previous ones. A team which would take shortcuts and would wilt when things got hard, is now one which busts its arse when it comes to the one percenters.

Would be nice if we could score some points too though 😂

Yeah HVG that's been my take this year. Much better most of the time in effort areas. When we lack there we get belted.

And yes some points.....please. does it feel to anyone else that they are often frustrated in attack and trying too hard.

Relax and play heads up footy - we have tough forwards and so many that can run great lines - ponga, Pearce, cliff, watto, Best. Come on fellas.

On and our most confident runner - Mann 😁

Klem article where he points out that the difference between this year and last year is that last year the young squad was smashed in the pre season and smashed again during the covid lockdown and then played 18 straight games, so they were baked by the time of the finals and were just happy to make them.
This year they come into the finals in very good shape and are keen to make an impression.

Hope he is right, and hope he plays...

Doubts over Him and DSaf for Sunday

Hope we dont have another Bulldogs final where all our injured players were done in the first 20...
