Not unthinkable that they go on to replicate the 2023/24 system.
Hastings/Crossland at halfback on the left side, getting on the ball a bit more centrally, bringing forwards onto the ball, providing an option to cut back inside. Hastings directed traffic more and Crossland focused more on keeping the ball alive & support play. Both played as the secondary kicker, Hastings more short kicking, Crossland throwing up more long/high kicks. Always working towards a wide short side on the left for KP to operate in. Sharpe in this role, playing similarly to Phoenix? AOB says he has a big boot, so maybe it becomes his job to get his feet under him and try to kick it behind the back three when we're trapped in our own end.
Brown in the Gamble/Cogger five-eighth role of playing a lot of his footy mostly in a pocket on the right side (also providing a sweep option to the left). Kicking plan was reversed: Gamble kicked for distance, Cogger took the overwhelming majority of kicks once the ball passed halfway. Attacking plan on this side emphasised picking the right option between playing short to the back rower, playing out the back to Ponga, playing early to Gagai, or running. Brown in this role?
It could happen. I guess then criticism may come re: spending all that money on a five-eighth and putting a 21 year old at 7. May wind up simpler to just leave Sharpe with 6 on his back. IMO the number on the player's back does not matter, and AOB will just do what the players feel most comfortable with. Winning obliterates most criticism.
