I'm nicknaming Dylan as "DylBro"
I think given the length of his contract he was safe for this year, but yeah, this definitely locks him in.This signing could really save AOB's bacon.
I imagine if we had another lackluster season of up and down just making the 8 again, the Knights may want to make a move either end of this year or part way through next if things are going great. I can see them wanting to make a change to save Ponga and try and bring in a coach that can take us further. Not saying OB definitely can't, but if he doesn't have the success taking us to the top 4 then...
Now that Dyl has signed, and having signed with AOB as the coach might lock AOB in for next season to see what he does with Dyl and Ponga combo. I hope he does very well obviously.
Plus, if we are going to use that nickname he should technically be playing for the Sharkies (in the shire). #hobbitsMight be best if it’s a bit more family friendly. Remember people of all ages use the forum.
Anyway, let’s forget about it lol.
My son's name is Billy, and his two younger sisters coined him 'Bilbo McSwagger'.Dyl Bags or Dildo Baggins for mine.
They are the two that would have my vote, might want to do a poll.![]()
TBH you cant use as a whole Browns previous years, its a baseline to start with he is coming into his prime you would expect his level improves from now, just like Ponga. Doesn't really matter what all these experts say, we either do nothing and change nothing or take a gamble and hopefully get a great result. At very worst he doesnt make our team any worse to where weve been.10 minutes into the James Graham podcast and as expected like clockwork they’ve hammered us.
Apparently Brown is an unproven player, Parra have a better roster than us and there was huge unrest last year when we let D Saf go. The contact is now 14 million apparently. Also we should have paid Pezet (an actual unproven First Grader) overs to sign.
Talking out of their arse on repeat.
I don’t know if it’ll be a good signing or not but the people in the RL media really have an axe to grind against us.
DB Draught! The most 80s NZ beer ever.I'm going to call him Dylbro, DB, Dylown, or Brolan
Everyone else is comparing it to some imagined alternate signing, perhaps from the "For Sale" rack at "Halfback Barn", the shop you buy Nathan Clearys from.Think Gus has spoken the most sense out of anyone about this whole thing.
I don’t have twitter. Can you take a screenshot @Lefty?Toohey has tweeted there are ratchet clauses in Brown’s contract if the salary cap increases but it’s apparently capped at 1.4 M.
There’s definitely two sides to the “biggest deal in NRL history” argument.
Against
• We paid overs,
• 10 years is to long, both make this a hugh risk.
• He is “definitely” not a 7, which is what we need.
• DO NOT want to move Sharpe out of 5/8.
FOR
• he is a top five elite 5/8
• established and still young, so we will have him in his prime.
• No other “elite” halves on the market and in the foreseeable future.
• he should instantly make us a better side.
• We CAN develop him into an elite 7.
• we are Newcastle, unfortunately we have to pay overs to get this contact across the line.
He’s the thought’s of one of Newcastle’s prodigally sons that does have a great footy brain.
"I don't wanna be too pessimistic" - proceeds to talk nothing but negatives for an hour.10 minutes into the James Graham podcast and as expected like clockwork they’ve hammered us.
