Darius Boyd

Darius is quality and I think he's only had one off game all season backing up from origin 1 with a injured ankle, apart from that he would be top in 5 players at knights every game IMO, how he gets bagged ill never know. Ppl expect two much, he's no inglis, and barber and Hayne are inconsistent if you watch them closely and not just the highlights. Happy he's out fullback

He looked to be back to 100% after the ankle injury, which is great. That's the main thing I took from his game last night.

Boyd could walk across Newcastle Harbour carrying the passengers off the Stockton Ferry on his shoulders and would still get criticized. I think he's good for us almost every week. He strikes me as a player that can lift to the level of those around him if need be. Maybe if a few others in the team fired and we started playing consistent quality football Boyd would like like a super star at the back.

Having a look at his efforts when playing for QLD compared to club level even pre injury is laughable, guy clearly doesn't take playing with us seriously let alone playing with pride.

He's playing wing for QLD outside Hodges and Inglis. In front of Slater and with Cronk and Smith. My Grandmother of 50 years passed would look like She was enjoying it. Boyd's form for the Knights is nowhere near the top of the list of reasons why we suck more than a Dyson.

We are paying him the money of a gamebreaker. He doesn't earn it, but neither do the other guys we have on that sort of money.

Reportedly 400k per season to be a gamebreaker. What should we be getting for 1.25 million per year ?

He's never been a try scorer or some big game breaker, he sets up tries, he defends and he makes metres, can anyone say he hasn't been doing this to great effect this year? I can't. If people's expectations were too high than that's their fault but he'd be close to being in just as good as form for us this year as he's ever been. If everyone else starts playing as consistently as Boyd, Mullen, McManus and now Snowden we'll be winning a hell of a lot more games.

Beaumont I don't care about enjoyment or even how well his playing.

Its his lack of effort that kills me.

It's disgusting his lack of care when in our colours the way he gets up and plays the ball likes its offensive to him that his even got tackled is a joke, his gaits to the line like his in the first training run of the season or a game of beach footy is repugnant.

Guy is being paid sh!!!tloads replaced our captain who was excellent at that position, and couldn't give too hoots!

He's scored more tries for QLD than he did at Dragons in 3 years too, he's not a try scorer at club level, he gets his "star" credentials for his ability to set up tries and plays, break the line and defend so well.

I think Lord is basing that off last year and hasn't seen Boyd play many games this year because he's the complete opposite player this year.

I'd score more tries for QLD too if I sat out on the wing with that backline.

How do you think Merritt scores all his?

If Boyd played wing for us he'd have more tries too.

Wouldn't care if he never scored another try if he returned the ball for the Knights in the same fashion he does for QLD.

Long odds of that happening though.

what's worse is he isn't even a good playmaker. he is a one trick pony with the cut out pass to the wing, and gidley broke the line and defended better at fullback anyway.

I watch every game.

Exactly and the opposition had well and truly woken up to it last year let alone this year.

Love when he does the sideways crawl across the field and gets caught by the opposition and tackled near the sideline as well wasting a tackle in good field position.

Guy offers nothing for the Knights.

Kev had two try assists and two line break assists in his last game, would be less than half the price and looks like he wants to be here.

Ahh well.

Boyd ready to fire for Knights after Origin win

After starring in Queensland’s 26-6 win over NSW on Wednesday night, Newcastle Knights fullback Darius Boyd will return to training on Saturday ahead of this weekend’s Round 16 match against the Gold Coast Titans.

Boyd, who scored two tries during his 16th appearance for Queensland in Origin 2, said he is looking forward to bringing his confidence back to the Knights.

“I am feeling very pumped, all the boys played well and hopefully we can go to Sydney and do the same thing,” he told newcastleknights.com.au.

“We knew we had to start well because NSW started so well in the first game and we managed to get a roll on and from there we were hard to stop.

“It was an awesome feeling and I want to come back to the Knights and have another win with them on Sunday.

”
After suffering an ankle injury during the Knights' Round 11 loss to the New Zealand Warriors, Boyd worked around the clock to prove his fitness for the first Origin match.“It is nearly there and is still a little bit sore and stiff some days,” Boyd said.

“It is so much better than what it was and I will keep getting more treatment and it will get there in the next few weeks I am sure.

”
The Knights face a difficult opponent in the Gold Coast Titans this weekend and are in need of a win having lost their previous four games.

Boyd will take his place at fullback and says he is looking forward to getting back out in front of the Knights' Members and supporters at Hunter Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

“The Titans have been playing pretty well and they beat the Storm on Monday night,” the 25-year-old added.

“We had a good win against them up there and need to play like that again this weekend.

“We know what works well and that will go a long way to winning
.”

I'm sick of Boyd catching a kick, then passing to his wingers before he gets tackled. Although I have the faith the wingers will catch the ball, but if not Boyd has just gifted the opposition 6 tackles starting on the 10.

It's comparable to a soccer player passing across the face of his goal with defenders on him.

Catch the ball and run at the line Boyd FFs, youe not above anyone in the team. Stop being a weak so n so n havea bloody go
