After starring in Queensland’s 26-6 win over NSW on Wednesday night, Newcastle Knights fullback Darius Boyd will return to training on Saturday ahead of this weekend’s Round 16 match against the Gold Coast Titans.
Boyd, who scored two tries during his 16th appearance for Queensland in Origin 2, said he is looking forward to bringing his confidence back to the Knights.
“I am feeling very pumped, all the boys played well and hopefully we can go to Sydney and do the same thing,” he told newcastleknights.com.au.
“We knew we had to start well because NSW started so well in the first game and we managed to get a roll on and from there we were hard to stop.
“It was an awesome feeling and I want to come back to the Knights and have another win with them on Sunday.
”After suffering an ankle injury during the Knights' Round 11 loss to the New Zealand Warriors, Boyd worked around the clock to prove his fitness for the first Origin match.“It is nearly there and is still a little bit sore and stiff some days,” Boyd said.
“It is so much better than what it was and I will keep getting more treatment and it will get there in the next few weeks I am sure.
”The Knights face a difficult opponent in the Gold Coast Titans this weekend and are in need of a win having lost their previous four games.
Boyd will take his place at fullback and says he is looking forward to getting back out in front of the Knights' Members and supporters at Hunter Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
“The Titans have been playing pretty well and they beat the Storm on Monday night,” the 25-year-old added.
“We had a good win against them up there and need to play like that again this weekend.
“We know what works well and that will go a long way to winning.”
