2025 Recruitment And Retention

I much prefer Crossland and trying to develop some juniors.
Agree - we don’t need Cheese and the problems he brings! I mean I think people like Bellamy can handle the likes of him but take him outside of that bubble and he’s tanked.
Develop our juniors. We clearly have Brailey for another year and Arthur is coming up. Crossy is shining in 9 and 7! Not sold on Smith yet who’s one of our development players he wasn’t up to the mark in flegg I didn’t think. Did we lose Davis do we know? Him with Arthur would have been a great pair to develop as our 9-14 pair.

Hastings to the titans was just reported on the radio, anyone got anything more?
Sorry if ive missed it on here elsewhere.

Fox posted an article today speculating that Hastings would be a good signing for Titans. Just speculation, no new news.

Maybe that’s what the radio report was referring to?

It's a poorer reflection on the Dragons and Flanno that he didn't want to stay for $1m or a touch over it whatever it was.

It's a good deal for both parties but is anyone mad enough to give him as much (as in a new contract) at his age?

Credit to him for staying remarkably healthy though. 334 games at his age is impressive
Dragons should be a shoe in for the spoon next year surely

Yeah i couldnt either, my dad called me and said it was on talkin sport segment on whatever station he listens to, as mentioned already, must be pure speculation.
Could be smoke/fire. See if anything comes of it. But I think he’s locking in for his 800k and then move on next year. Big moment for him. Bought a house, lots of renovations and bub on the way, sure he’d like to stay put for once. I hope with him now on meds he’s on the improve mentally.

For us it would be a big deal for a footballer its par of the course.

Bit on O’Sullivan/Knights in the Telegraph. Says he thought the roster needed major changes when he arrived but has changed his view to only needing a “restructure.” Quote: “change a few contracts, bring a few players in key position and I think we are swimming with the big boys.” Points to Phoenix & Leo becoming internationals and Lucas & Sharpe becoming genuine NRL players as proof that the Knights can develop players.

They’ve got a good coach so I’d say it’s highly unlikely.

My smokey is Dolphins. Clubs always struggling after Bennett.

Scary part is I can see reasons most teams will improve next year but not us.
I think there is a lot of room for improvement. Just because we didn’t make any big signings like a few other teams, doesn’t mean we can’t improve.

Halves can’t be any worse than last season, although I’m still not expecting the world from them. Gamble healthy should help.

Backline was very clearly more potent as soon as Sharpe came in for Tuala. We get Sharpe on the right from Rd 1 now. Lucas on the left where he should be. Cohesiveness in general from the same team being intact.

Ponga surely finally due a season where he doesn’t miss 1/3 + of the season, obviously gives us a higher ceiling.

Up to the coaching staff to improve the attack, but the defensive dna is there.

His correct however we just need to secure a decent half with a good kicking game

I actually think the Dolphins are going to make the 8.

Woolf I think is a good coach unlike Demetriou. Good backline with a talented young halfback. JMK at full fitness is very important to them and Gilbert coming back will make a difference. Some decent young forwards.

Round 2 next year aka the Saifiti cup will be a interesting game.

Obviously we need to find a solid 7 with a good kicking game but I think we need a old head forward that maybe past their best but can be a leader for the younger blokes coming through eg Ben Kennedy when he ironically left us for Manly.

I really do think he’s right.

We have to keep Leo. Aside from that, the pathways look to be working in giving us new forward and backs, and his main signings so far have been in bolstering these stocks with more talent.

“A few players in key positions” just acknowledges the need for halves. I get a feeling the Pezet thing isn’t going to happen because I think we would have heard something by now.

But stand pat and make sure we’ve got cap flexibility, and look at all the great halves who’ve moved clubs in the last few years, whether it was a breakout player who had established guys in front of them, or older guys reaching an impasse with or requesting a release from the clubs they were at.

I think it’s conceivable Mitchell Moses loses patience at Parramatta and asks out. I’m sure Peter’s “restructuring” will be with putting us in a position to bid for a big fish like this in mind.

Wee Jock Madden might be looking for a release now that Broncos have signed Hunt.
Jock is a game manager.
He came through the juniors with half our squad.
For about 5 years Madden and Crossland were so close you couldn't talk about one without the other.
